Topic: Why "current traffic" differs between 5min graph
Replies: 2

The current value is the current average, so it is not a snap shot of that instance but of the last 5 minutes and 30 minutes. So the 5 minute "current" is more sensitive to sudden changed. Exmaple let say these are the value for the last 30 mintes at 1 minute intervals. 10 9 8 7 10 5 4 10 ...

wierd I just looked at all my graph and none of them line up perfectly. Some are off by up to a 1/2 inches buy the last column. If you find a solution can you post it back to the forums.

Did you change the rrdtool version in the settings? I remember there was an option for version 1.0.x and 1.2.x. I am not an expert but that might help.

Thanks, that helps me understand the difference prefectly. How do I add the TREND line? I looked at the functions and I saw MIN, MAX, and Average.

From a reliability I find it kind of distrubing that a external found (in this case SNMP requests from Cacti) could lock up your switch. I would get after Cisco if I where you. Luckily this was unintentional but imagine an unhappy employee do this on purpose.

Once again I hav e to admit my ignorance. I wanted to still collect the data every 5 minutes but wanted to average it out. I guess my confusing is coming from the TREND information you are talking about. I am not 100% what the difference is between an average and a trend. Thanks for your continued p...

Does that average out the last hour or just take the current value times 3600?

I don't think I explained myself very well. What I am looking for is a graph with the granularity of 1 hour.

Graphing a rolling average.

I currently have a data source and graph that show the number of SMTP message delivered per second. I would like a graph that shows the number of messages delivered each hour. Is this possible. I looked at teh CDEF's but I have to admit I am kind of a new to Cacti.

Why that is a simple thing to do. You need to switch the "Poller Availability Setting" to check via ping instead of SNMP.

Just go into Settings | Poller and use teh drop down box.

Monitoring non-SNMP host

I am trying to graph a device that does not have SNMP. When I setup the device it shows the device as being down and SNMP error. Is there a way to graph values from a non-SNMP device?
