The root issue is that the values are incorrect -- grossly. If Cacti is going to provide statistics on the device page, I'd like for them to be correct or be able to be disabled. I hate providing my users with incorrect data, as it leads to a plethora of other issues. Can you provide this thread wit...

Rony - I believe you're referring to ping ipaddr -s xxxx (e.g., ping 10.10.10.1 -s 1400 for a continuous 1400 byte ping). (FYI, in Windows its ping -t -l 1400). I'm not sure how this ties into Cacti. Cacti should be utilizing the default ping command if we choose ICMP (instead of a UDP packet). This...

Rony, Thanks for the prompt reply. I've been banging my head over this issue for a few weeks. The devices in question are Cisco 6500s, so they are not particularly busy due to the large processrs on them. What's odd is if I ping the 6500 from the linux box itself, the response times are as expected....

Clarification on Cacti Device Fields
This should be a simple question to answer, but I can't seem to find any posts/documentation explaining it. Under the devices link, we have the columns of Current (ms) Average (ms) Availability What are we measuring exactly? Is this the time it takes for Cacti to ping the device, or the amount of ti...

Witness - Correct; it's a router with an interface that is no longer used (that is, a frame-relay circuit that has been since deleted and replaced with a different DLCI on a different subinterface). The question is: how do I stop Cacti from querying this interface? I don't even see where Cacti is &q...

Here's what I'm seeing in the log: 10/27/2006 03:05:02 PM - CACTID: Poller[0] Host[9] DS[63] WARNING: Result from SNMP not valid. Partial Result: ... I clikc on the Host [9] link, and on data queries, I click the green circle. Upon the next polling cycle, I see the following in the log: 10/27/2006 0...

Result from SNMP not valid. Partial Result -- removed intf.
Hi folks. I've seen many people post about the "Result from SNMP not valid. Partial Result" issue, but mine seems slightly different: I receive the above error message, and the link to the device indicates its an .rrd file associated with a subinterface that no longer exists on the device....

Lemme know if you have any luck
Your delay doesn't sound as bad as mine, but please let me know what sort of tweaks (if any) you can find to improve the syslog performance!
Thanks,
a.

Troubleshooting syslog posting
Hey folks - Great mod and great plugin architecture! I'm using Cigamit's version and it's working fine, but I have one problem/question: My setup: 200+ devices logging to Kiwi Syslogger Kiwi forwards to Cacti Syslogd Cacti syslog seems to be behind by almost an hour! That is, I can cause a syslog ev...

Understanding Cacti Basics - Device Section Columns
Hey folks - I'm trying to better understand what the various columns in Cacti's Device section are. I'm specifically talking about Current (ms) and Average (ms). I have numbers that are 118ms which is impossible, because Cacti is on the same subnet as the devices in question. How is this number calc...

Problem Fixed
Kudos to Rony for his expeditious assistance. For those of you experiencing the same problem, do the following: 1. Make sure the user that you're using has its <Graph Settings> (under Console -> User Management -> Edit user set to "Dual Pane" under the Default Tree Mode View section. 2. Cl...
