I got it working again. Cacti is up and working again.

The only two thoughts that I have are as follows: 1.) Try adding this to your /etc/my.cnf file old_passwords 2.) Use MySQL Administrator to connect to your database and change the root’s password to something other than none (not using a blank password I assume) I see other people (not Cacti users)...

Ya well Cacti is just buggy and can't handle SQL 5 they really
need to do some serious updates on Cacti to make it support

MYSQL 5.0.xx

It is best that you go back down to MYSQL 4.1.15 I was having all kinds of issues with 5.0.xx which I had running before. I removed the MYSQL 5.0.xx and installed MYSQL Standard 4.1.15 and cacti appears to be working fine now. Incase anyone else is running MySQL 5.0.xx Here is the link for MYSQL 4.1...

Problem Resolved

Ok it looks like I solved the issue. I downgraded from SQL 5.0.xx to MYSQL Standard 4.1.15 and it appears to be working fine now. It appears to have been a bug with cacti and SQL 5.0.xx Incase anyone else is having this problem the link for the MYSQL Standard 4.1.15 is http://dev.mysql.com/downloads...

I am not sure if this would be an issue or not but before I was getting an error saying that it could not connect to the SQL server I was using the name localhost.
