Web Server is Apache 2.2.3 - I don't know how to determine if apache has permissions to see the cacti.log file. From the command-line, run 'ps aux | grep apache'. The column in the far left is the user that apache runs as. It's usually 'www-data' or 'apache'. Then, run 'sudo -u apache less /var/www...

Re: New system, still need to comment out rrd_init, rrd_clos
I have always, since 2005, needed to comment out the 'rrd_init' and 'rrd_close' lines in poller.php. If I do not do this, graphs created after a certain date will not update. After commenting out these lines in poller.php, all my graphs start working again. I need to repeat this process every time ...

Re: Sample Jitter & Jitter/Error statistics
(asking a question about a post that's 2 years old, I know; original post is on page 1) First, thanks for the template. Finally had a need to further analyze/troubleshoot/prove my network, and this is coming in handy. They went in just fine for me. I have a question about the Jitter/Error Statistics...

I'm trying to get this working, but I can't even get an output from the snmpwalk command. Doesn't give an output nor an error. ... I got it working. Stupid selinux. Can you describe what you did? I'm getting the same behavior. When I run the script manually as the snmp user, /var/db/mailstats.db is...

Re: Tips using IP SLA with Cacti
This probably belongs on a cisco forum, but I thought I'd try here. - If QoS is enabled for VoIP traffic on the network, setup the VoIP probe to take advantage of the QoS Can you tell me how this is done? Since most everything on my router is tagged before it enters, I'm thinking I can make a simple...

New system, still need to comment out rrd_init, rrd_close
Hmm... Seems I never updated this. I have always, since 2005, needed to comment out the 'rrd_init' and 'rrd_close' lines in poller.php. If I do not do this, graphs created after a certain date (and I have not had luck figuring out which graph this is), will not update. After commenting out these lin...

Re: Zero value in grafh
Is that space actually missing between the IP address and the community string? Your data input method should read: /usr/bin/perl <path_cacti>/scripts/cisco_switchports.pl <ip> <community> That space is going to be very important. But perhaps it was just a copy and paste problem.

Template and such
Well, I created this graph. I don't have a screenshot, but it shows ports in use and available. The script is a simple perl script that does an snmpwalk, so paths may need to be corrected. It shows all ports, including virtual ones, so the readings might seem a little off. (i.e., you'll probably see...

Switchports InUse/Available
I'd like to have a graph showing switchports "in use" versus available. Specifically for Cisco switches, but if it's SNMP based, I don't see why it wouldn't be more generic than that. Does anybody more familiar with SNMP have a good idea on where to get this information? I could write a sc...

Well, a month's gone by, and this month I had an extended maintenance period to do some major system updates... Basically bringing my gentoo system fully up-to-date, rather than just doing the security patches that I usually do. There's also a new kernel on the box. Anyhow, after doing so, this prob...

This is Gentoo. The install is pretty old, but it's been kept up to date. libc is version 2.3.5-r3. rrdtool is 1.2.15-r3. I ran poller.php by hand, but did not spot any errors, though there is a lot of information there. I'll have to wait for a maintenance period and try the upgrade again. After I d...

Log shows RRD Updates, but RRD Not Updated
I just upgraded to 0.8.6j from 0.8.6h. After doing so, a good portion of my graphs have stopped updating. It appears that it's the graphs that were added later that aren't being updated. ... And here's where it gets weird. Looking at the logs, I see the script execute successfully, generate proper o...

Re: CACTID : TCP/ICMP Ping wont work ?
As you can see, my cactid binary is available for every user, the mentioned chmod 7770 only makes it worse. cactiuser@<hostname> /root $ ls -al /usr/sbin/cactid -rwxrwxrwx 1 root root 58516 Aug 22 09:33 /usr/sbin/cactid The output from your ls -l is are '0777' permissions. The instructions were sug...
