Wanted: completely manual graph definitions.
I would like to see a way to manually define a graph using direct RRDGraph syntax; I'm going nuts trying to figure out how to make the Cacti interface do what I need. For example, I want to graph the largest of three datasources. What I want to do is this: /usr/local/bin/rrdtool graph - \ --imgforma...

Concrete example: I'm monitoring the power demand on several transformers in each of our buildings. Each transformer has it's own RRD, with four DS in each (total power, and current for each of the three phases). I want use a graph template to show the data for all four transformers in each building...

GPRINT datasource problem in multi-DS graph template
I'm trying to create a graph template to display several traces of the same kind of datasource. The problem is that (seemingly since I use the same Data Template for all of the graph items) all of the GPRINT statements are written out to use datasource (or DEF) 'a'. Is there a way to make the GPRINT...

forum/phpbb annoyance
When I search for terms in this phpBB forum, the results are white on very light blue, and illegible unless I "select" the body of the message. I don't see any style options to change. Would somebody please fix this?
Thanks.
Thanks.

Well, dayum. I went back to mysql 4.1 and it seems to be working now. I had checked the requirements, and believed mysql 5.x to comply with MySQL 3.23 or greater, 4.0.20d or greater highly recommended for advanced features from http://www.cacti.net/downloads/docs/html/requirements.html Thanks for th...

RRD created, but no graph?
I just performed what's basically a completely new installation on a FreeBSD server which been running 0.8.6d for a while. I reinstalled mysql (5.0.13 from ports), and installed cacti-0.8.6g, taking the required steps to create the database in mysql, etc. I can add new devices, and seemingly create ...

Can't use ICMP ping on FreeBSD(5.4)
Trying to move my Cacti installation from a Solaris system to a FreeBSD box, and I've hit a stumbling block: the cacti user can't create raw sockets on FreeBSD so ping.php can't do ICMP pings.
Has anybody hacked ping.php to use the host OSes suid ping executable instead?
Thanks.

I'll second the request for a collapsible tree view in the Console -> Graph Trees -> (edit) view. I would also really like to see a filter that can be applied to the dropdown list of graphs to add as leaf nodes; either a regexp or a hostname filter. That list also gets extremely long after adding ju...

Rename "Data Query" to "[Device] Setup Query&
I've dabbled in MRTG and Cricket over the past few years, but never been what you'd call a "power user". I am now looking at Cacti after hearing about it at LISA in Atlanta. From a day-to-day graph-viewing perspective, I like the UI far better than that of Cricket or MRTG. I have some trou...
