You are getting 32 bit values for your counter. Check if your switch support 64 bit counters and configure your poll to get these.

You should look at the switches configuration documentation, or ask that question on a switch forum ...

Reload Data Query automatically (through cli) on 0.8.6g

A question that has been popping up regularly on the forum ... I need to reload a data query for 1 specific device on a regular basis, and would like to do this automatically through cli commands (windows platform). I've found different similar topics, but none that gives me an answer for Cacti vers...

You are measuring the number of pages as a counter, not as a gauge. This means the resulting graph shows you the number of pages per timeunit (5 minutes poll time, I suppose). If you want to know the number of pages that the printer has printer, the data source should be defined as a counter.

Set the logging level to debug, and check the result of your poll. The log will probably give you a first indication for troubleshooting this problem.

Suppose for host 1, your IN and OUT data sources are the first 2 of the graph template, than make a CDEF "a,b,+", which you graph as a line. For a second host, next 2 data sources, define a CDEF 'c,d,+", and so on.

Yes indeed, I have a similar issue with VPN tunnel stats which stop updating. It must be possible to trigger such "Reload Data Query" command externally (by a cron job) to avoid all these manual interventions in order to keep Cacti going, no ?

Maybe I could live with just the number of pages printed in the period that is displayed in the graph. This would be 'easy', I thought: just take the current (or max) value and subtract the MIN value. However, I don't seem to be able to do that in a CDEF. This can't be true, can it ?

If I make it a counter, I loose the total number of pages printed, don't I ? I agree that that would make it easy to calculate the number of pages printed in a certain period of time.

Casti will support any information you can gather. So I think the right question to ask here is: can you gather the information you want to display from your device. So that will depend on what information your device can deliver - probably through SNMP. For that, you will need to consult their MIBs.

I don't immediately see how I can do that ... Suppose I get the value of the value of the total number of pages printed, and this value is 161431 pages; how can I calculate an average number of pages over the last hour, last day, last week from that value only ? I also would like to have this averag...

Calculate an average per time base

I'm trying to define a CDEF that calculates an average increase of a graph item per time basis, but I can't seem to solve this. Mind you, this is completely different from the average function which is 'built-in'. As an example, I have a graph showing the total number of pages printed on a certain p...

Yeah, I think the XML problem is due to the version than.
I'm on a windows system, so that's where the other problems must come from. I changed the script and got it running fine on the command line, and than I made the necessary methods and templates in Cacti. Works fine now.
Thanks.

I have some problems with these ! 1)I ran the php script manually, and it would complain about an "invalid object identifier: ifTable......". So I changed the script to contain $OID = "1.3.6.1.2.1.2.2.1.2". To check if that works, I added an ECHO of $val in the foreach loop, but ...
