Answering my own post.
I go tit working but I have no idea what was wrong;
I resorted to copying the xml file from the one I had working changing the OIDs, saving it test it then
line by line changing it and checking it in the cacti UI.

G'day all, I am trying to add some data queries for a device which needs multiple queries to retrieve all the indexes. I fixed it.
So for some reason the host ID was incorrect.
I deleted the host from the tree again
and readded it again and this time it worked.
