This doesn't appear to solve the problem the original poster was (and I am) having trouble with. In particular, what is the precise order in which you add elements to cacti (particularly later in the process) after creating a data query? And what are appropriate values for some of the less descripti...

Also, if I try to run a Verbose Data Query in an associated device, I get a PHP error (the first line is repeated several times): Warning: preg_match() [function.preg-match]: Unknown modifier '(' in /var/www/localhost/htdocs/cacti/lib/data_query.php on line 115 Warning: Cannot modify header informat...

script query data template

I've created a data query (using the Script Query input method). I create the data and graph templates, and then from the "Data Query" editing screen for that data query, I click on the associated graph template, and I get the following error under "Associated Data Templates": Wa...

script query interface

I'd appreciate anyone taking a quick look at what may be a rather rudimentary issue. Although I've read the instructions, what is the interface that cacti expects from scripts that run scripted data queries? As I understand it, it's similar to this: > script index index0 index1 index2 ... > script q...

data query (script) problems

Is there any other documentation on scripted data queries besides what's in the Cacti manual? The manual seems to be written in the spirit of after-you-already-understand-the-concepts-here's-how-to-use-cacti. Well, it'd be nice to have an in-depth explanation of how cacti runs scripted data queries....

It appears that I've solved this, although I'm not positive how. I installed cacti on another machine, created the graph as in the instructions, and it worked without a hitch. I went back to the original install, changed nothing except assigning the graph to "localhost", and it worked. Thi...

I'm running Gentoo Linux with PHP 5.0.3 and MySQL 4.1.8. The poller is running from root's crontab, so I'm positive that poller.php has access to the same files/directories as the cacti website. As I said before, poller.php doesn't even attempt to run anything for this data source, even though it sh...

Thanks for the reply. I was beginning to think no one would. :) I've run poller.php manually before to see what it was doing, and it gives me no indication that it's running much of anything: root@foo:cacti> php poller.php Waiting on 1/1 pollers. Waiting on 1/1 pollers. Waiting on 1/1 pollers. 02/22...

So I've started from scratch with this and followed the directions in the manual from the "Simplest Method of Going from Script to Graph (Walkthrough)" section. I follow the instructions explicitly, but when I get to creating the graph items in the graph, I get the following error message:...

no rrd file, no graph

I've created a new graph (my first in cacti), and though I believe I've followed instructions correctly, I do not see an rrd file in the filesystem and, of course, I see no graph. In particular, I created a new data input method (script/command with 2 args), a new data template, a new data source, a...

I tried recreating every element of this graph from scratch again, and this time, I was able to choose the correct Data Source when adding the graph, but the rrd file is still never created (though poller is running, and the Data Input Method is "script/command"), and the graph is a broken...

new user with broken image graph

My apologies ahead of time if this seems trivial. I'm new to the whole world of rrdtool, snmp, and cacti, and I'm having trouble getting my own custom graph to work. I'm pretty sure I followed the instructions, but they're vague on occasion. Basically, I've created a graph from the ground up, the gr...
