I am trying to get cacti to graph a Mikrotik router. This is the first time i have tried to do customer graphing. Cacti will find the network interfaces fine using the generic host template. there is a php.conf file in /etc/httpd/conf.d

I tried to start mysql with this command:
/etc/init.d/mysql start

didn't change anything

I am trying to install cacti on FC3.
I got to the configuring MySQL section of the directions and now get this error:

[root@localhost cacti-install]# /usr/local/mysql/bin/mysql ERROR 2002 (HY000): Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/tmp/mysql.sock' (2)

any ideas?
