Indexed colour sounds good. To get the most out of the icon colouring you need a grayscale image anyway - so 256 colour would be plenty!
Perhaps as a SET option to avoid losing the PNG and JPEG support?

Hi, I am really getting into weathermap in a big way and have started creating maps using coloured icons for host status with the useiconscale keywords. Currently I have made my icons black and white, where black is used the scale colour shows and where white is used, it remains white. However, with...

Dynamic Icon based on Bandwidth Percent
Hi, I have a map which graphs some switches and Wireless Access Points. What I want to achieve is to use a different icon for the Wireless Access Point nodes based on the percentage of Inbound/Outbound radio usage. This raises two questions: 1 - I don't want to create an Icon for every percentage be...

Hi Witness, Thanks for the reply. Could you point out the Troubleshooting guide you were talking about. I couldn't find anything on the Cacti site or wiki that looks like a troubleshooting guide. I've found a few FAQs that don't seem to cover what I need. Also the Cacti log is where I started. There...

[SOLVED] Looking at graphs causes gaps
Hi, I am running Cacti 0.8.7b and have noticed that If I log in and navigate to a graph in the graph tree, gaps start to appear in the graphs that I am viewing. The gaps only happen on graphs that I look at for the period I look at them. I have set logging with values and can see that the correct va...

Ok - have found the bit under Data Queries where I can specify the preferred titling of the Graphs generated from that query. I have added my new definition and promoted it to the top of the list. Now when I create new graphs, they get the correct title. Good. However, when I select a newly created ...

Graph title not getting set by Graph Template
Hi, I have modified the graph template "Interface - Traffic (bits/sec)" by: Setting the Title to "|host_description| |query_ifName| > |query_ifAlias|" and unticking "Use per graph value". This has resulted in all the titles of my existing graphs changing to this format....
