Is it possible to monitor specific ports on a remote host?

After a couple hours of reading various posts, I'm unable to find what I'm looking for. I'm sure I've seen this before, but I'm unable to find anything about it. I'd like to be able to test specific ports for a response. For example, I'd like to insure ssh on a remote host is accepting connections. ...

Thold disk calulations are erratic

I'm using a straight copy of the CactiEZ v0.01. Setting a threshold on disk used percent doesn't work. this is the current values being displayed in thold: Data Source Item [hdd_total] - Current value: [9045196288] Data Source Item [hdd_used] - Current value: [8622052352] Data Source Item [hdd_perce...

Need some help plotting specialized interfaces

I have a VPN concentrator that I'd like to plot some specific users on. When they log in a virtual interface is spawned with their userid name as the interface name. The problem is the interface index number changes. I can see them in the interface query, but If I plot the interface, whoever has tha...

Host down detection

I understand that host down detection is being better integrated into cacti/threshold? Something I'd like to see is a difference between host down and host unreachable. In large networks a scheduled change may take a section of routing/networks/equipment out for a period of time. A host unreachable ...

Solved

Finally figured it out. Started chasing dates and times through the system. Logs were showing an hour ahead of system time. Graphs were showing an hour behind system time. php 5.2.0: php.ini will not honor date.timezone = GMT/GMT0/GMT+0/GMT-0. I had to use the string value of UTC to get it to work.

Update

This is really strange. The data is either being plotted an hour after it's been collected, or it's being plotted an hour late. The server is running in GMT. This screen shot was taken at 23:45 GMT right after an update and refresh.

Anyone have any ideas at all?

Graphs won't update

All the graphs stopped updating at the same time. The only thing I can find is an error in the debug out that the host did not respond to SNMP. There's only 1 host. The local host. It does respond to SNMP. Cacti beta installer, cacti-0.8.6j.1.5.exe on win 2003 server. php is rolled back to 5.2.0. SN...

Log entry error

I found this in the log. You probably already know about it, but... cacti beta installer, rolled back to php 5.2.0. This showed when I rolled php back and still had cmd.php as the poller. 04/28/2007 03:15:01 AM - CMDPHP: Poller[0] ERROR: The PHP Script: CMD.PHP Must be started using the full path to...

Yes, I kept it. Everything seems to be running properly. It ran over night with no errors. I'll let it run over the weekend before I start digging into adding custom items. I do have another question though. I don't see email notification for downed hosts anywhere. Have a pointer on where to start?

put everything back to original. rebooted. pages came back. Of course PHP errored out with Access Violations again. This time instead of renaming the php folder, I just extracted 5.2.0 over the top of it. Rebooted again. Pages worked. Tested the poller. using cmd.php the cmd window opened and closed...

First I rebooted the system to insure that it really was the php bug and not a permissions error. Graphs worked again after reboot. So it was the ISAPI bug. I replaced php by stopping IIS, then renaming the original php folder to php 5.2.1. Then extracting the zip file for 5.2.0 to c:/php. I used yo...

I did stop IIS prior to replacing it. Ok, so I started all over again. IIS with the beta installer. Built the base system, added a couple of devices, defined a couple of graphs then added hosts to the tree. Then I let it run for a while. I failed after a couple of hours with the PHP Acessess violati...

Actually, I tried rolling back to 5.2.0 with the beta installer set. It didn't work. The poller hangs and never finishes it's process.

Per BSOD2600's post, cacti doesn't like PHP 5.2.0.

Version problem

I've been trying for a week to get this running in a stable manner. I've been reading these forums and finding most of the answers I needed. Those I couldn't find, I was able to figure out myself. But I've run into a wall. Using the beta installer and IIS, a clean install works. PHP then starts havi...
