Got this error again.

It turns out that SNMP that comes with HPUX is not sufficient, you have to install NET-SNMP. That fixed it.

I agree about the difficult part, but I had issues even with the tar ball. Couldn't get it working for a while. It was patches and other cofiguration issues.

[SOLVED] Log file stopped being written to

I am running cacti version 0.8.6j

I renamed the log file which got huge due to debugging.

Then I did "cat /dev/null > cacti.log"

Ever since then, nothing is written to this file.

How can restart cacti or the daemon that's responsible for the log file?

Cause of blank graphs on hp-ux: Stopped SNMP-subagent

The environment is hp-ux version 11.23 I've multiple case of blank graphs, and despite the help on this forum (which usually means you are told to read the site in a signature file), I've traced the root of the problem - I have the SNMP subagent die. Problems with "Debug NaN's in your graphs"

It seems the "no graphs" problem is the most common one with Cacti. I have looked at "Debugging NaN" by gandalf and never could make much sense of it, especially on these points - su - cactiuser /full/path/to/perl your-perl-script.pl p1 p2 ... (check output) What do you mean by &...

The problem was, an SNMP sub-agent was not running.

So it was a tricky problem.

I've read and re-read and then re-read again that FAQ and still cannot figure it out. Here is the deal, I have the .rrd files generated. They are up to date and get updated every 5 mins but apparently they are corrupt, when I do strings on them, I get just a few lines of text vs. functional .rrd fil...
