Thanks, Reinhard. What about the 10 vs 15 minute issue?
BTW, I really appreciate all the support you provide in these forums.

Question about Load Average graph
I'm curious why the default "ucd/net - Load Average" graph template uses stacked 1, 5, and 15 minute averages along with a total. It seems to me that totaling the averages from these different periods doesn't give any meaningful information. Am I missing something?

Finally figured it out
The version of net-snmp I was using on the monitored host was buggy. It's running SuSE 10.0 x86_64 and had net-snmp-5.2.1-10 installed. I upgraded this to 5.3.0.1-42.3 and it's working now. I had to uninstall the hplip rpm which had a dependency on libnetsmp.so.5 before I could do the upgrade.

Same with TCP
Just for kicks I tried with TCP instead of UDP and got the same result.

Same results on other end
I see the same result when I capture the network traffic on the querying host. I'm baffled.

More info - buggy snmpwalk?
I captured the network traffic during an snmpwalk attempt that was returning bad results and found that the traffic over the wire was correct. Apparently snmpwalk is just displaying the results incorrectly. This is really odd because I've tried it from two different hosts using two different version...

Strange results from snmpwalk and snmpget
I came across this problem while trying to debug my cacti graphs. Very basic stuff here... When I query a remote system for its interfaces' in/out octets with snmpwalk I get the same value for the first three interfaces: me@cacti:~> snmpwalk -v2c -c mycomm myhost.mydomain.com interfaces.ifTable.ifEn...

Solved (maybe)
After much searching and a little tweaking I think I've got it working. I found a reference to Cacti being able to use either net-snmp or php-snmp and since I had both installed I removed php-snmp. Now my device status is Up and I'm getting graphs. There's no data yet but that's to be expected since...

Status: Unknown, Availability 100%, no rrd files
First, my apologies to epoxi for plagiarizing your subject  I'm new to Cacti and SNMP and am not getting any graphs. The status of my devices (including Localhost) is Unknown, but they all show 100% Availability. I've searched the forum but haven't yet found a solution or clear troubleshooting...
