Hi, I've been getting a lot of these recently. I'm running on a fairly old machine with only 128MB, and it looks like the minimum memory requirements for FAAH have recently increased to 250MB, so I'm guessing this is the reason.
I thought I would only be sent work that my PC is capable of processing (up until now I've only received FAAH work units). Has something somewhere not been updated in light of the new memory requirements? |

Please go into "My Grid" and select "My Projects". This will bring up a window with the selection for what projects to participate in. Remove the check box for Fight Aids @ Home. Currently the project with the least amount of RAM usage is Genome Comparison. You can select this project only. Remember when setting your projects to press the "Save" button after having your options set.

Thanks, I will do. But my point was, should FAAH not be blocked for me automatically (as the others have in the past), if my PC does not meet the minimum requirements for this project?

The minimum requirements are here: http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/help/viewTopic.do?shortName=minimumreq
In theory, no computer will be allowed to run a project if it does not meet these requirements. However, I have heard people say that they can run BOINC projects on machines with less memory than the requirements state. Are you running BOINC? Lawrence |

Hi RupertWelch,
----------------------------------------U don't say which agent, but if running on BOiNC, FAAH will run on a 128mb RAM machine long as it has sufficient Virtual Memory / Swap File. Check your disk space and the System Control panel if it's allowed to grow to 250mb. Recently more folk on small machines converted from the UD Agent to be able to crunch FAAH. Also in BOiNC, there is an option to tick the 'alternate work' box. This allows for the server to send u other projects that have small enough system requirements to be send to your machine. The mentioned Genome Comparison would fit nicely. Cheers.
