Hi Sekerob,

Yes it's using 50% CPU on a dual core machine. Wall clock has 11hrs, 6 mins (and counting) for the WU.

I submitted a problem report via the Contact Us page with all of the info. Do I still have to keep it running or can I abort it yet?

I was born on the 17th of this month, so it's my favorite # smile

Edit: now almost 3:00PM CST and wall-clock at 12hrs 23 mins, still 100%. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news!

Re: Problem with program?

Hi Esoteric17,

I'm puzzled why u are on UD agent when u can have BOINC, with graphics screen. U can tell BOINC to just use one core, and cause less disk overhead, particular with HDC.

Now on the killing, posts galore how to do this.....Taskmanager, find wcg_xxxxxx.exe ... that's the one that u say is doing 50% overall (100% of one core), and terminate. Theoretically the file with errors get send and points awarded as normal, for the hours invested and a new WU retrieved.

Done a few of the latest 5.14 HDC with graphics on BOINC, no hangs at all.

cheers.

Cool I killed it.

I do have BOINC for Rosetta@Home but BOINC gets on my nerves a little. I don't like how you have to log into the preferences page of a project to change how/when it uses your computer/number of cores/etc. I think all of that should be configurable on the client level (and it is with the new BOINC GUI if I'm not mistaken?)

Are there graphics for HPF2 for BOINC?

Not yet. But we are working on BOINC graphics for everything. Platforms * projects mean that graphics are quite a chore.

Re: Problem with program?

My suspicion is that HPF2 will not start on BOINC until the graphics have been worked out..... hence the delay, or maybe not, first try it without graphics, then bolt it on if things run fine?????? Watch the Beta space as it will be trialled first for sure :D

ciao

Re: Problem with program?

Hello Zigfried,
Use 'Contact Us' to send the computer ID and the time that it was running a problem work unit. This will let us identify the work unit and start debugging. If you have a lot of remotes, I suggest that you change your profile to exclude HPF2 until it has been debugged. Let members who only have local computers locate the mines in the minefield.
