Files used by SpyWatch replaced

I have just installed the agent.
During installation, the program alerted me that it would replace a file used by SpyWatch.

I agreed, but I will not run the agent if I do not know what does it mean.
And where I can find the relevant changes the program made.

Many thanks, Luigi

cool Re: Files used by SpyWatch replaced

I assume you mean http://www.spy-buster.com/spywatch.html ?

Hmmm…

SpyBuster 2.0 is able to scan and clean your entire system of over 4500 UNIQUE spyware and adware components in seconds! Also included in SpyBuster 2 is SpyWatch, a real-time monitoring agent designed to STOP SPYWARE BEFORE IT STARTS!

• SpyBuster 2.0 Professional provides real-time 24/7 scanning of your computer stopping spyware before it can launch on your system! With SpyBuster 2.0 Professional, not only can you remove spyware and adware from your computer, but stop it from ever getting on your system!
• SpyBuster 2.0 Home and Professional detects and removes over 4,500 spyware and adware components.
• Two integrated scan routines for ultimate spy detection.
• SpyBuster scans all running programs and shuts off detected spyware.

Not much information, but I think you just broke your SpyWatch. Better reload it and assume that the two programs (SpyWatch and WCG) are incompatible unless professional systems people vet it.

What file did it want to replace? The installer shouldn't be replacing any files except its own.

Re: Files used by SpyWatch replaced

Hi Rick, the problem is just this: I do not know what it replaced.
A message (during installation) told me that "a file used by this program -BPS SpyWare- is using a file that need to be replaced) Ok or NO (somtehning like that.
I accepted, but the file was not mentioned and I would like to know if my PC is still secure, since is my everyday job in it!

thanks to all helping me, Luigi

confused Re: Files used by SpyWatch replaced

It might be possible to do some experimenting. Uninstall SpyBuster, reboot and start up WCG. Then reinstall SpyWatch. Does it coexist with WCG or remove it? Does the WCG Agent say that it is working normally and continue to increment percentage completed while SpyWatch is running? I am thinking of the peculiar events in the following thread:
http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread?thread=950

Sometimes computers have gotten into a peculiar state while seeming to run normally, with the result that a new installation will go squirelly. Sometimes just trying again cures the problem and leaves everyone puzzled.

Re: Files used by SpyWatch replaced

Thanks to all.

I will make some trials. If all OK I will ask to join to some 20 people.
_and_ I will suggest to do that by public media, to implement the agent on the millions of governement pc that are for e 3/4 TIME IN IDLE STATE.

p.s. an answer from Mr. Rick would be appreciated.

Re: Files used by SpyWatch replaced

when i use Alt+Ctrl+Del
1,WCGdrid-roseta.exe
2,UD.exe
3,ud_126863.exe

cool Re: Files used by SpyWatch replaced

The list of processes that you might find running is given in http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/join_now/agent_paused.html under the subheading "Connectivity". The installation program is not supposed to remove anything except for old WCGrid programs. So this thread is a puzzler, indicating that something was whacky about the computer when the install program was run. Nobody else has ever reported this message. Incidentally, the numbers in ud_#### change with each new version released.
