Hello there. Most of the WU's always took just under an hour to complete, or at the worst, an hour and a half, but now I'm getting wu's that take about 3 hrs. Is this slowness happening with all of your machines or is it just me?
Thanks |

Hi Whocrazy
Sorry mate my figures for completion have stayed the same for an average value over the past 1 week for all types of WU, and from memory they are still the same for the last couple of months. Maybe its a p.c related thing like dust build up on fan or an os hard drive thingy, sorry to be not too specific but I'm not that clued up on these issues mate. It's always worth a check. With your run times for units though it sounds like you have something pretty decent and therefore will know more about this than me. Cheers Jacko |

Yes we have Help Defeat Cancer batches presently that are throwing very long curves....... had a new (personal) record keeper of 4 hours 28 minutes according BOINCview. Started about Sunday night, when the shortish 1 - 1.5 hours ran out. The batches end in 13-xx-xx. After got a few with 14-xx-xx.......we shall see :-D U did not post which agent u use, but if BOINC, the best place to check is the quorum detail in the Result Status view. Just click Workunit name of the tough once. All the once with a second or 3rd returned show long times.... and of course there was an 'artiest' who wanted some extra topping on a windows crunch B10104_ 0252_ CTMA3A1-13-25-24-c1 Valid 10/28/2006 21:28:06 10/31/2006 04:01:58 4.40 170 / 49 ketch u laeter

Hi Sek
Thanks for that mate, I have not had an HDC unit for a while to check against. I have one coming up but it's a bog standard one. Cheers Jacko |

Ive also notice a jump in the time it takes to complete the latest work units. About 25-33% increase in time.

Well Slap, prep yourself because the latest record breaking HDC just did 5:09 hours B10112_ 0272_ CTMA3A1-15-3-15 which would translate to 8+ on that box you had the 7.16.
----------------------------------------I wonder what the scientist are having us to crunch that make them 13/14/15-xx-xx ending WU's so tough? cheers

I experienced this as well. For a long time, was getting units that took 1-1/2 to 2 hrs (under ud agent) then, a couple of days ago, had a day long batch that each took less than an hour. Today, they all seem to be running in the 3 to 4 hour range.

Had a new HDC record keeper of 5h55m CPU time this night (4x the mid/late October batches). Wonder what changed on those as the whole progress profile has changed too. Before it was exponentially, now it seems to be almost constant except the 4th part.
----------------------------------------Would the project scientist maybe be able to lift a tip of the veil as to why we're seeing this? thanks
