Re: Minnesota Crunchers

Decisions, decisions. I will hit 1 year in CFSW with this evening's update. I have a shot at 2 years, since I can do 14-16 days crunching per calendar day, but it's just as likely that I'll just miss. Do I take a chance and keep going full speed ahead(once CFSW WUs are available again) or do I stop now and leave the WUs to other badge hunters?

I say go for it... I have completed one year and 168 days which means less than 200 days left to get to sapphire and I am averaging slightly less than eleven crunching days for every calendar day. I estimate about 18 days to reach the 2 year mark. I will give it my best shot.

It will be close, but I think you can make it. There is always a few days of mop-up.

Re: Minnesota Crunchers

Bearcat, glad you're safely home. A lot of Iowa is in the same condition as Nebraska. I'm glad MN is green. I had to look at a map to find out where Ainsworth is. Having lived in Omaha for a year, I'm fairly familiar with the Nebraska towns along I-80 but not with those farther north or south.

We finally got a long, soaking rain yesterday. The grass is starting to green up nicely. But it's way too late for the corn and soybeans around here.

Thanks Kate. Also saw the devastation of the wild fire they had in July. About 20,000 acres toasted. Doesn't look good for most of the country from lack of rain.

Re: Minnesota Crunchers

That drought is going to be a disaster for some and a boon for others. If you were lucky enough to have timely rains and you get the crop in the bin, you will get a very good price this year.
I see some potential rain on the horizon this morning and we really need it here. My well is good enough for one load of laundry and then we have to let it recharge for a while before running any water otherwise the pump is just sucking air. We are making very judicious use of the water we have. If we are careful, we have enough to get by so far. I hope we get a good soaker today. I am thankful for what we do have.

Cheers

Re: Minnesota Crunchers

Here are some of the State Fair pictures. Lets see if I can get the URL correct.

OK, it only took 5 tries to get the URL correct. I put The Princess Kay photo in there as she is from Stearns County and it is the first time the Princess Kay of the Milky Way winner has come from Stearns County, even though Stearns is far and away the number one dairy county in the state.

Re: Minnesota Crunchers

Thanks for the fair pictures, Sgt Joe! I hadn't thought of "Princess Kay of the Milky Way" for some time. :) Congratulations to Stearns County!

That is one big pig. Big pork chops though. Yum.

I appreciate that, but we'll be OK. I got nothing this morning, although less than 1/2 mile north it did rain a little. Maybe tomorrow.

Cheers

Re: Minnesota Crunchers

The remnants of hurricane Isaac should make it into Missouri and maybe parts of southern Iowa if lucky.
Not a lot of rain in our forecast.
