FightAIDS@Home Graphics
We are happy to announce that we have just released a new version of the FightAIDS@Home application. This version is the same as the previous version but it includes graphics.

Thank you to all of the beta test participants who helped us test this release.

Great News,

It is presumed that it relates to BOINC only. The previously grayed out "Graphical Display" button in the Work tab should now turn to show black text when an FAAH is selected in the queue..... With this UD Agent like interface, 1 more reason to ditch this and move to BOINC.

It's great that FAAH has a screensaver now smile

I know it's aesthetic and silly, but I'll migrate to BOINC once both of the other projects have screensavers also (I know the techs are working on more important things with the other projects now, like upgrading Rosetta code for HPF2).

I really really like to SEE what the science apps are doing (plus I think the screensavers look cool)! (and yes they take a few CPU cycles away from the crunching to display graphics, but so what).

biggrin

Hi all
I've just got the latest version of FAAH software for the boinc client and the GUI shows the button for show graphics. When I click this nothing happens. In the Beta work units i got the graphics displayed fine. I'll have a check to see if its a Linux problem and let you know if I find anything. It could be something to do with the x window or config. Saying that I havent changed anything from when I ran the Beta's.

Cheers

Re: Member News: FightAIDS@Home Graphics

Sounds as though we have BOINC graphics for FAAH on Windows, but still have to implement Linux and Mac OS X. But I am sure that the first one is the hardest; the later platforms should come faster.

Hi Lawrence

I've just checked again and the graphics does load on this new WU but only the once. If you close it and then try to view the graphics again it does nothing.

Might just be teething problems as it didn't show on beta testing, then again I might not have tried it twice on the same WU biggrin

Cheers

Yes - we will start beta testing the Help Defeat Cancer graphics shortly. We have a few things we are working out in development before we move it into 'beta'.
