Have two PCs running the Grid agent - a laptop and our family PC. Recently, tech support at work re-imaged my hard drive to address some intermittent failures. When I re-loaded the agent, it registered
the machine as a third device in the device management tools. I don't see a way to delete the old image name, even though it now shows me has having two machines with the same name. This may automatically fix itself after 14 days of no work done by the original version of the machine, but I really don't know. Anyone have any thoughts on a fix or a way to tell the system the old image no longer exists ? Thanks. Patrick. |

There are 3 posts in this thread on your topic:
http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/...?thread=614&offset=20 I do not know how to determine the specific post # so I will do some selecting for you. “ 3. Device Management - The ability to roll up the points earned from and remove a device that is no longer running from our lists. It's been discussed but is not on our priority list. One thing to keep in mind is that if a device has returned a work unit, we want to keep that device information around forever in case we have to investigate the results it worked on. If you have a device that you've "retired", it will roll off your "active" devices list two weeks after the date of it's last returned result, so you won't see it unless you view your device history. “ A sad cautionary tale “ 1) I cant delete a device I added 2) I deleted the name of the device and it allowed a blank name to be associated for the device. Minimum num of chars should be there, blah blah, you know? i cant even now click the device name cause there's nothing there (was trying to delete the device) “ “ 34. Delete or reuse a device if you reinstall the software on a PC, you have to create a new device, even if it's the same name, and there's no way to either delete the previous one or reuse it on re-install I'm not 100% certain, but I believe this is currently a limitation of the UD software. ---------------------------------------- Rick Alther World Community Grid Application Developer “ |
