Hello,
I browsed through the forum and couldn't really find an answer to this. I run a headless Linux box and everytime I attempt to run run_manager on this box via SSH on my Mac the gui blows up on setup. So, I wanted to just run the client. I ran the boinc command on the linux box and was going to remotely set it up via the Boinc manager on my Mac. However, it always asks for a password to login in. I allowed rpc gui running the command line client on my Linux box, but I don't see where or how to set a password. Can you tell me how to do that? Or, is there any documentation on how to manually configure the client, so that I can run it on my Linux box too? Thanks, Andrew |

Assuming u already have a BOINC account set up at WCG, there is a second password hidden in a file gui_rpc_auth.cfg of 32hex.....change it to something u can remember and use that (or use copy past of the 32 hex value). Also u may need to create: remote_hosts.cfg it should contain the network name of your computer or its IP address if fixed or the word 'localhost'. Learned of the existence of these 2 files when setting up BOINCview that needs them.
