confused Transfers and Retry Now...

Sometimes a computer might get disconnected from the LAN, so it cannot report...but it continues to churn out results. Ill check on the machine a day laater and it may have a 5-20 tasks to upload.

Is there any way to upload more than 1 at a time?

Currently Im selecting each one and clicking Retry Now. It's a pain in the butt if there is 10+ of these.

Re: Transfers and Retry Now...

"Retry Communications"... most likely under "Advanced", but depending on how old BOINC-client you're running it can be located somewhere else...

Re: Transfers and Retry Now...

The recommended BOINC version to use is 5.4.11. The "Retry Communications" never tried before, but now see it says in status bar something like "Report completed work, update points + preferences and obtain new work".... Same can be achieved by hitting the 'Project Update' button on the Projects tab.

It's assumed that on the 'activity' menu u have selected 'always connected' option.

ciao

Re: Transfers and Retry Now...

"Retry Communications" will re-try any uploads/downloads that is deferred, showing "Retry in xxx hours/minutes/seconds".

It will also check if any Deferred Projects needs to make a connection, but it uses the "normal" connection-rules, so hitting "Retry Communications" doesn't guarantee a deferred project will send a Scheduler-request...

Similarly, if a project is not Deferred, hitting "Retry Communications" will not give a Scheduler-request, even if one or more tasks shows "Ready to report". For "extra" connections outside the normal connection-rules, use the Projects-tab and hit "Update".

As for the "normal" connection-rules:
1; If more work is needed.
2; If less than 1 day till deadline for a "Ready to report"-Task.
3; If more than N days since Task finished, there N is "connect every N days"
4; If less than N days till deadline for finished Task, there N is "connect every N days". (New in v5.4.xx)
5; To send trickle-up-message. (Currently only used by CPDN).
6; Manually triggered by user by hitting "Update" on Projects-tab.
7; Triggered by Account Manager, or new CPID in one project can also trigger connection to another project.

Being BOINC alpha-tester, even v5.4.xx is already many versions ago, and v5.2.xx much longer, so I don't remember in which version "Retry Communications" was moved to the current "Advanced"-location, but do remember it has been under the Projects-tab...
