Message from server: No work could be sent.

Hi
since I got "Message from server: No work could be sent." my BOINC does not get any workunits:

2006-09-24 08:37:01 [World Community Grid] Sending scheduler request to https://secure.worldcommunitygrid.org/boinc/wcg_cgi/fcgi
2006-09-24 08:37:01 [World Community Grid] Reason: To fetch work
2006-09-24 08:37:01 [World Community Grid] Requesting 2 seconds of new work, and reporting 1 completed tasks
2006-09-24 08:37:07 [World Community Grid] Scheduler request succeeded
2006-09-24 08:37:07 [World Community Grid] Message from server: No work could be sent.
2006-09-24 08:37:07 [World Community Grid] Message from server: Your computer has only 505 MB of memory; Help Defeat Cancer requires 715 MB
2006-09-24 08:37:07 [World Community Grid] Message from server: (there was work but it was committed to other platforms)
2006-09-24 08:37:07 [World Community Grid] No work from project

Since then, BOINC finished the last workunit, sent it back and that was it.
Restarting BOINC does not help.

Is there just no other project offering workunits or is there something wrong?

Re: Message from server: No work could be sent.

good morning monty zuma smile

there is other work available. log in and go to "my grid", then "my projects". if i read your error message correctly you have hdc (help defeat cancer) checked but your machine doesn't have the minimum memory required for hdc to run. hpf2 is currently suspended, but faah is available for machines that can't run hdc. check off the box that says

If there is no work available for my computer for the projects I have selected above, please send me work from another project (this option only applies to BOINC agents)".

this will get you work while waiting for hpf2 to come back online.

a big V thank you to the ca's and others who allowed me to post this before they did tongue biggrin

Have reported the same error a few days ago in: How Tight Are We on Work? seems the work distribution server sometimes hangs up and needs banging......see response from Lawrence Hardin.

Hmmm. That will not help, since this field had been already checked in my profile.

Re: Message from server: No work could be sent.

It's one of these ghosts in the machine...Lawrence wrote in other thread (there are now 5 on the same subject), that it was temporal. If u have no work / work buffer empty, reset the project....it will force to remove any legacy files lurking in the buffer....if still not, boot!

DONT DO PROJECT RESET IF U STILL GOT RESULTS TO REPORT AND FILES TO UPLOAD....JUST BOOT.

ciao

PS I've got a few very low weight alternate projects (5% for SIMAP & TANPAKU), which i've got as fall back projects....whenever WCG goes dead, it starts pulling work from them.....when WCG recovers, suspend workfetch for SIMAP/TANPAKU finish it off and continue with WCG.
