abstinence is not a realistic solution to the global AIDS epidemic...
----------------------------------------![]() For example: Uganda's HIV rate drops, but not from abstinence: http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?file=/c/a/2005/02/24/MNG2PBG3VF1.DTL Vatican May Admit Abstinence No Prevention For HIV: http://www.365gay.com/Newscon06/04/042406convat.htm "Barragan said that the Vatican will continue to advocate abstinence but admitted that many doctors say the policy is not working." Celibacy should keep you safe enough, so long as you never need a blood transfusion or share a needle.
But monogamy isn't enough. Most new cases are through heterosexual contact, and you're only safe if your partner is also monogamous. The WHO have all the statistics. They are most worrying. (And points C-G are pure rhetoric.) |
