Look in your BOINC subdirectory for stdoutdae.txt. This should have a complete record of all BOINC messages. That will let you see what happened starting at the time stamp in the server when the work unit was sent to you.

Have read of 'in rare' a WU being listed but not actually transmitted to client due a glitch during setup for transmission to client...... it will expire eventually (knreed wrote about it).

Hello Hobwell,
Sekerob raises an interesting possibility. knreed said that occasionally a 4th work unit will be issued just as the 3rd result is being received. Peculiar things happen then because of different concurrent scheduling processes on the server. You can click on the work unit name in your Results Status page to see what other results have been returned for that work unit. If it is 3 or more, then assume that you have had one of these rare coincidences. Concurrent processes can lead to all sorts of strange errors. Lawrence |

Sorry guys.. My mistake as soon as you mentioned Hob-Major it all fell into place... Hob-Major was meant to be working on the BBC Climate Change experiment but for some reason has started downloading FAAH work units.

That's why BOINCview is so great.... spinal taps on multiple PC's from the clients side on a single machine!
----------------------------------------On your sudden receipt of FAAH....... If u dont want Hob-Major to get WCG work, u best detach WCG altogether from that machine. ciao

Thanks for that... It looks like I never received that work unit !! Is it something I should be worried about ? Hobwell, There are certain situations where a client may not be aware that a workunit is assigned for them. The most common cause for this is if something occurs after the response from the server has started which causes your client to only receive a partial request. For example, if you disconnect your computer from the internet during this period. There was a change put into BOINC in the 5.4 client that will allow the server to 'resend' a result to a client if that client is not aware that it has had that result assigned. If you upgrade your client to 5.4.11 then it should receive that result. Kevin |
