hi has anyone tried to use a linux external hard disk instal to share boinc between different computers? or is it best avoided?
the idea is to transport my pocket sized harddisk to a work computer to utilise some "spare" cpu time? hmm i wonder if tis is possible or not, maybe i could target the fastest available cpu and reboot with linux on ext disk, hmm might give it a go , what do others think? i could stil run boinc on my internal hdd on home puter , i could take my files and boinc linux if i go on hols or to other places ?? |

Hello retep57,
You can use a flash drive for UD, but BOINC has problems as explained in this thread: http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread?thread=6515 Lawrence |

I'm sure to have read here on the forum a thread where someone posted the message log of linux system reverting to 1900/1901, but cant put my hands on it....just remember that it was a teammate of Adywebb who had the issue.
----------------------------------------Mi Penso, mobo time conflicts aside, suppose u have optimised crunching for CPU's with features X, next u plug it into a PC with features minus X...... hold my breath abated. ciao
