Progress bar getting stuck

I know this is probably a known problem.

I often find that the progress bar gets stuck in a loop. e.g. gets to the end of say 20%, then instead of starting another progress bar (gragh C on the Fighting Aids) at 20.1%, it jumps back to 18% and trys to finish the 20% again.

This can continue for hours, doing the same bit.
I have previously given up and shut the process down for 3 days, as it doesn't seem to get pass the point.

Does anyone know when this fault is going to be fixed for good? My PC has had the problem for over 6 months.

regards,
Patrick

Re: Progress bar getting stuck

hmmm dear sir/mame, i think u just discovered a new series of FAAH with 5 segments depending on whether the red dotted line is there or not. If there, u have one that consists of 20 segments, 5% each......it's just trying to find a point that is equal or better than the red line from the previous segment. If u have not interrupted it at all and been running for 3 days at that 18-20% cycle, u may have a problem WU, then best is to go to Taskmanager (ctrl-alt-del) and kill the UD_xxxxxx.exe process, NOT UD.exe. It will then send the bad result back and get a new WU.

Just shutting it down and restarting makes the same WU begin anew from the last segment saved.

ciao

PS, please report back if red dotted line is there or not, as that indicates there is a new FAAH around of 5 segments only....would become Type 8 in a table maintained elsewhere.

Re: Progress bar getting stuck

Hello pcwr,
What Sekerob means is that the FAAH program guesses how long it will take to reach 20%. When that much time has passed but it has not converged to a solution yet, it increases the time estimate, so the percent accomplished shrinks and the green line retreats. After a few hours of crunching, it should get past that point.

Re: Progress bar getting stuck

Okay, no answer but had 2 in a row now, that have segments of 20% a piece (now marked type 8). Have updated the table of FAAH permutations in the other thread Stuck at 0%
