minimum system requirements for future projects confused

Hi members and Techs - does anyone know something about the future min. req. for the next projects?
I think the min. req. shouldn´t be that high as it is for HDC at the moment - a constantly increase may cause a problem with active members in the future - don´t you think so?
thx biggrin

I think there is one in the pipeline that will have lessor requirements, but I cannot swear to that. Clearly your issue is understood by the WCG management.

Thank You for donating and kind regards.

Re: minimum system requirements for future projects confused

Hi spanger,
Minimum requirements are always uncertain till shortly before launch since Rick Alther is always trying to cut them, but the word is it looks as though we can cut them a bit for the next upcoming project. What that means in practice, though . . . ? I would assume no worse than FAAH and I will hope that we can get the requirements down to what HPF1 used. It is likely to be a while before we see a new project, though, since we have to get HPF2 back on track.

It will be a while before we get any definite word about the next project. In the mean time, BOINC has a number of interesting projects, some with very light requirements such as SIMAP.

Re: minimum system requirements for future projects confused

I was only interested in the min. req. because if the req. would be lower and we would be able to reach more persons - and more persons would mean more devices.
The focus should be in the acquirement of new members, but I´m not a technician, maybe you can explain me the factor of "normal"req. like FAAH compared to HDC - . In my eyes the WCG should also be open for people with litte CPU-power and RAM - the visibility is everything....
thanks

Here's actually a post that includes some info on lower memory requirements....albeit a bit hidden in a subject no-one wants to fall victim to: Likely reason for recent Paused Agents
