Thanks nelsoc,
for locking the thread "Tired of starting at 0% each day" in this forum. It's a relief to see that personal shouting matches won't be tolerated for too long. It's a shame that this thread got out of hand because usually we can ask the questions and get some helpful answers. We all need help from time to time and I hope this recent display of bad manners won't dissuade other crunchers from asking for it. If we try and stay polite to one another we'll all get along famously. David. |

Dag's Guidelines for Polite Posting of Questions
1. Do your homework. 2. Do more homework because it's good for you to learn how to do homework. 3. If you have a question then ask a question and leave it at that. If your question turns into a "clever" accusation or assault on the world for having woefully neglected you thus causing all your problems then expect to get slapped upside the head, 'twixt the ears and on the nose too. The more you foam at the mouth, the more you'll get slapped. That's the only way foamers learn, the gurus know it and so they will teach you. 4. If you see your question posted by another person and you can see that person is foaming then don't take up his cause unless you feel an aching need to get slapped too. 5. If you get slapped then consider it an opportunity to learn, like getting an F on your homework, then go back to step 1 and try it again. The gurus respect that but they play foamers like fish and treat them disrespectfully. How do I know this works? Well, experience of course. After getting slapped a million times myself, I finally learned. Sooo.... learn the hard way or take some advice. Now, I hear foamers already wanting to ask "Dag, you think you're a guru?". That would be contrary to advice in point 3 above and probably neglect of points 1 and 2 as well. But if ya feel the need then ask the question. ![]() |

I have no interest or time continue arguing with you and I just wish that moderatoers would do their job if and when its again necessary like for example now.
To: support@worldcommunitygrid.org <support@worldcommunitygrid.org> Topic: Report Forum Post http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread?thread=8607Poster: DagorathPost date: 2006-09-07 19:11:20.015 From the forum rules: # Please do not start Flame Wars in the Forums, as this will not be tolerated # Please do not reignite inflammatory threads by creating new threads after existing threads on the same topic have been closed # Please do not be rude to other members nor retaliate if a member is rude to you I would kindly ask that some of the modes would delete Dagorath post from this thread and give him somekind of warning. Rules should be same for everyone, even to Dagorath and even if you may or may not agree with someones opinion that should not make a difference in moderation decisions. If hes post will not be deleted may I kindly ask the reason for that (since the rules look pretty clear for me). With most friendly greetings, Blueroom |

Hi blueroom,
Nelsoc explained this earlier today when locking one of the threads Dagorath posted on. He said that he deletes and rewrites words, but is very reluctant to delete entire posts, since this causes paranoia. He prefers to lock threads and let them sink into obscurity. Lawrence |

To be honest, I was little sad to that the thread was locked. Actually I was asking several questions there and tried things to be developed. (In addition, I was writing another message to post there after the thread was locked! Then I couldn't post it....) Anyway when one lock a thread, please don't ignore other participants there. If just a couple of persons are doing no good things like personal flames, please attempt to do something on only them at first. If the chaos cannot be stopped whatsoever, then lock the thread.
I'm sure nobody wants to see what happened at Rosetta@home's forums. I can agree with this disposal 100%. But moderators, please moderate forums, bearing in mind too sensitive / early response may also cause some participants' discontent, because it takes them off a chance to express their opinion, which can become the situation better. Even we cannot have a change anymore to make general agreement, consensus at all after the place has been said to be kept off. |

Please don't reopen arguments that have been closed by the forum administrators. Especially don't attempt to reignite personal attacks, or "get the last word".
That said, if honest questions remain, and you're sure that they won't cause undue controversy, then feel free to open a new thread (in the relevant place) to ask your questions. Please tread carefully. |

Unfortunately for me, creating and enforcing a forum policy is not as easy as, say, creating and enforcing a security policy. There is no way to moderate the forums in a way that will make everyone happy all the time.
If there are legitimate questions from members that were not answered in threads that have been locked, you are free to begin a new thread to try to get your question answered. |
