But we will never know how many are still crunching.
----------------------------------------We dont know how many PC are actually on line. We dont know what we are actually crunching for sure. Is it realy safe for our PC to use the agent. (throttle???)? Why now ? What if it is only an IBM marketting thing?! What the Bush am I doing here? Most be my feminin side acting up ![]() -- This post has been edited for inappropriate language - nelsoc ---------------------------------------- [Edit 2 times, last edit by MLCBA at Sep 2, 2006 1:44:06 PM] |

Lets give MLCBA a gag-order / restraining jacket & put the member in a padded room and make off with his/her PC. Than, at least we know one more is crunching the newest designs for the latest zap-gun, that makes everyone forget there are Men in Black (III).

My estimation of the number of PC actually working the grid is ~108,000.
----------------------------------------This is based on the average points/day of my 16 PCs not 92 . then divided the 35,000,000 point from yesterdays stats. That's less then 50% of the number of PC claimed to be crunching. If you want to attack clients you need inflated numbers. Right?! Hi Réjean
----------------------------------------The only thing that the stats can tell us for sure is that the equivalent of 45,349 PC's were left on all day yesterday for the grid. If it was 90,698 left on for 12 hours each or 181,396 on for 6 hours each is anyone guess. The only other stat that has a value is that at some point or other since the start of the project 215,450 people were interested enough to sign up in the first place. If they are still crunching with us then good on 'em points and numbers of WU's per day are completely arbitary as are "devices" I have 36 but just 4 on the go at the mo. But 124 years and 89 days of number crunching yesterday is fine by me. Just wait for the pickup as college and uni's return for another year of study. Holiday season is almost over Dave ![]() |

On the IBM front I'm sure it does no harm
----------------------------------------until we're faster than Blue Gene that is Our raw power for yesterday assuming the average PC churns out around 3Gflops was ~136TFlops which would put us in P2 on the list of the World's fastest supercomputers. Assuming a redundancy factor of 5 (knreed is trying to lower that to nearer 3 on BOINC) we still make P13 in that list so the WCG is no slouch - and all freely given ![]() |
