I've downloaded BOINC and UD. Running Fighting AIDs@home on both, does this mean it is two seperate projects or the same one? I think its the same as I have used the same user name and password. So would this run faster if I deleted it from eitheir BOINC or UD if so which one?
Thanks Neil |

The AIDS work units that you get from the WCG/UD agent and from the BOINC agent are for the same project (FAAH).
----------------------------------------Using both agents is a waste of resources. You would be better off in all cases to run one or the other agent (the WCG/AD agent, or the BOINC agent). I recommend the BOINC agent as it will allow you the flexibility to run any WCG project, or some restricted subset of them and has the advantages listed above by Didactylos. Regards and thank you for contributing to this most worthy cause. |

Some really cool, helpful, humble folks have put together an incredible website for you. It's called WCGwiki and it has an excellent article that compares BOINC to the UD agent (the standard issued client). Check it out, it has lots of info for newbies. Uhm, a good link, altough the italian translation of wcgwiki is very ugly :P (beh, this isn't a big problem, set english and read :P) |

If you can do better, we would love to benefit from your knowledge. The translation was provided by an Italian American and may have a few errors. Email webmaster@wcgwiki.org if you can help.

UD and BOINC do not coexist readily on the same core. They may appear to for a little while, but in a test I found out the CPU clock would get messed up due to some uneven thrashing. I even changed the throttling of the UD side to change the proportion. It went from bad to worse.
----------------------------------------Both may be installed, but one must be exited to start the other. It is possible to run UD on one side and BOINC on the other side of a dual core computer, like an AMD64 X2, if you really want to watch the graphics on the UD side.
