Re: Looks like we have a new kid on the block - XtremeSystems

Some of the stuff that went down there was distasteful, names, insinuations, allegations, non-support. But I know the truth. I was crunching before I ever heard of that project and have always thrown my all into it.
I know mate - I read the rubbish being thrown over there - very depressing sad

Enough of all that. Hey, do I know you? What is your connection to BBT? PC911?To Flops? To Muckshifter...

I started at PC Review with Mucks and Flops, then joined over at BBT - many members mix on both forums - I believe you crunched at UD & FAD with BBT in the past, so make sure you go over and say Hi - also come over to PC Review as well, we will be happy to see you smile

Re: Looks like we have a new kid on the block - XtremeSystems

Be tryin' to bloom! :) Hi V_R, nice to meet you. And hello Scribe; don't I know you in a round about way via FaD? Hello Vaio.

Ady, yes I ran UD with BBT, but before that I was on a rival team, PC911 ( PCQ&A's precursor ). Somewhere along the line I became disenchanted with UD, and sarted running FaD, in its' relatively early days with TIMO, for a short bit. When XPC offered us a more hospitable home, almost the entire crew moved over there. We had a hell of a gang for a while ( still great peeps ), and got to 1st, before the Russian monolith eventually grew so big they eclipsed us. Somewhere around that time, before the end of FaD I switched to D2OL, and ran that with XS. I had found that I was spending more and more time at that site, trying to soak up some of the vast knowledge there. So I figured it was only right to help out some, on there newly formed D2OL team. I tried to split my rigs between FaD and D2OL, but eventually just started running all D2OL. I knew that XPC was in a safe second behind TSC Russia and my leaving wouldn't hurt the teams standings. We started climbing and reached 2nd place in D2OL. Then I went back to XPC~FaD, when 2nd place was under siege by DPC and Free-DC, to help. I ran FaD with BBT near the unfortunate end of the project.
Eventually at XS we climbed all the way to 1st place, but some heavy stuff went down there ( for a while it was almost a dead project, though I hear there has been some developer interest and involvement in the last 4 or 5 months ) and we decided to leave after gaining first. Shortly before Fad ended it was on, for me, to Rosetta, at first with XPC. Around that time. I was asked to come back to XS-D2OL for the final assalt on DP's stranglehold on 1st in D2OL.
I ran Rosetta with XPC, exclusively for a while, but then threw 1 machine on XS's nwly formed Rosetta team. Around about that time I damn-near burned my house down by overloading one or two circuit. For almost a week I didn't crunch, while I got that sorted out. Ended up putting in 4 dedicated circuits and balancing the load more evenly. When I came back up I just started w XS's Rosetta team, and have been there until now.

Looking back over this, a lot of the chronology is intertwined. I just got done with OT at work, so I 'm too tired to try to get it exactly right. But, you know what? It all seems like a bunch of family ( except for them ex-SETI Zero RACers on a mission... they just seem like aliens too me. ). Most crunchers I've met have big hearts and are genrally great people.

Patty, I thought you were a BBTer, but you say you are a Teddie... Do you simply mean you just call both places home?

Vaio, I believe was also a BBT'er for a while. Yes?

Anyway, enough out of me. Time to cook a steak and maybe get to a meeting.

Scott I was running WCG & Rosetta until recent events unfolded laughing . Was with the Teddies there and still have a rig with them here as well. Everything else is with BBF. Somehow along the way I wound up with 2 homes. You know I could never leave(escape) BBF. laughing biggrin

Re: Looks like we have a new kid on the block - XtremeSystems

Hey all. Rob Smura here. Another in the intrepid line of XS crunchers. While I am not that Xtreame, I am putting out a few points. Thank you very much for the warm welcome. I think this atmosphere is a far cry from the terrible time we had over at the Rosetta forum.

Anyway, just wanted to say thanks for the welcome. I gotta get some work done!

Re: Looks like we have a new kid on the block - XtremeSystems

what a nice welcome. it was discussed in this thread earlier but i just wanted to give my input as to why i'm here. i choose my projects based on what is being accomplished. i believe in the goal, and this seems to be a great community. i'm glad we decided to move from rosetta to wcg as a team.

i look forward to what seems to be a long, tough competition while fighting for a great cause.

as some of you may have seen i also opened up a XtremeSystems thread calling everyone out for some friendly competition smile
