confused Boinc on FreeBSD : platform 'i386-portbld-freebsd' not found

Hi

I've installed boinc using ports and attached the project but I get the following messages when trying to fetch work :

2006-08-18 14:41:30 [World Community Grid] Sending scheduler request to https://secure.worldcommunitygrid.org/boinc/wcg_cgi/fcgi
2006-08-18 14:41:30 [World Community Grid] Reason: Requested by user
2006-08-18 14:41:30 [World Community Grid] Requesting 34560 seconds of new work
2006-08-18 14:41:40 [World Community Grid] Scheduler request succeeded
2006-08-18 14:41:40 [World Community Grid] Message from server: platform 'i386-portbld-freebsd' not found

Is there something that WCG needs to do to enable 'i386-portbld-freebsd' users ?

Thanks

Unfortunately this is not a solution to your problem.

If I could piggyback on it, though, having exactly the same problem with a different platform:

Anyone know whether there's anything to do to fix this?

Thanks

Hello,

Both of you are requesting work for platforms that we do not support. The current OS's are linux, Windows, and Mac OS. Also, we only allow agents of 5.x

I'm not sure if others have been able to recompile a freeBSD version of BOINC to simulate linux or not but that may be a path to look at.

BOINC works with the Linux emulation on FreeBSD, but I am not shure if the WCG app will work correctly. But you could try it.

Btw. SETI, SIMAP and Einstein has native FreeBSD binaries in the moment.
