Hello,
unfortunately i'm now really regretting ever getting involved with this project. At first I was pleased, and my proteome folding was coming along nicely... however at 90% things went badly wrong. For some reason, the system reset and now i'm on 0.4%... very annoying. Ive also lost the tray icon. My PC is also very slow, and CPU is often at 100% and guess what wcgrid_rosetta is consuming 42 mb of my memory usage... I try to uninstall this thing, and I get - 'cannot uninstall an instance of the agent is running on this machine'... i cant get to the tray icon to shut it down, and I kill the process and still no joy.. the process just respawns. So i'm stuck with an agent thats draining my system resources, not doing anything useful, and I cant get rid of it.. this really sucks... can anyone help? Cheers, Jon. |

This thread discusses recovering hidden icons, if that is all that has happened.

A second thought. Are you killing UD.exe (the Grid Agent) or just WCGrid_Rosetta.exe (the Application that UD.exe is running) ??

----------------------------------------Have you re-booted the system to see if that recovers the icon? By the way, WCG is designed to run at the priority of the Idle Task, so it isn't draining you of CPU cycles -- only taking what is left over when the tasks you are running have nothing to do. It does, as you say, take up some memory, but if you have a sufficient page file, that shouldn't be a very large impact. Keep us up to date -- there are several of us here that enjoy helping.
