When run as a non-screen saver, the grid .exe consumes 100% of cpu. I have re-cfgd to run as screen saver only.
Now, it consumes 1/2 gigabyte of RAM. This technology is not ready for prime time. I am uninstalling asap. Rick |

It is supposed to consume 100% of your CPU. It has the lowest priority for CPU cycles. Basically If the CPU is not already running at 100% WCG takes the extra CPU cycles and uses them. However, when another program (say MS Word, or Photoshop, or Warcraft 3) says they need some more processing power, WCG gladly gives it up. I'm not sure about the RAM thing. There is a thread on it here and Im sure someone else will come and enlighten us on the RAM issue.

I haven't noticed a slow down on my computer from runnnig the WCG agent. when I look in task manager to see the running processes, the rosetta program is pegging out the CPU to 100%, but on my machine it gracefully lets go of CPU % as needed when I do other things/run other programs. I guess if you are seeing things run unacceptably slow then you may have a problem, but just seeing 100% CPU usage is not really a problem, as begleysm said.

One suggestion is to change your preferences to have the grid run "only as screensaver". That way any activity will sleep the grid client and you'll have 100% of the CPU to yourself.
Also, using 100% of the CPU is the point of the project. ![]() |
