I don't know what the significance is of the progress bar. Here is some info Rick Alther gives about HDC check points: http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread?thread=7995#65499

If talking about the green, blue, green, blue segments of the progress bar in the 'i' screen (i have serious colour shifted vision, thus spouse chooses socks), it might be a gloss up for 25% progress! Each segments seems to be split in 5 blocks as well. For a moment i thought i had Vista aereo running, so fancy.
----------------------------------------Added: Just occurred to me, but could be coincidence as i only ran 1 HDC on UD Agent, as that one is dedicated to FAAH. In BOINC, i noticed a HDC WU does some wirring at 25%..the progess percent freezing for a few minutes, then continuing. Could be a representation of a permanent segment save. Thus if you see 5 Green, Blue, Green, Blue, Green, it might mean 5 segments... Reinvention of the wheel just occurred....a way to tell the viewer how many segments there are in a WU.....have not seen anything declaring this function. Lawrence, sorry for ripping.

I've noticed the progress bar is different colors. Any significance to this? Yes and no. It's primarily just a fancy way to show chunks of progress, however there is meaning to it (at least for now). Currently each HDC WU goes through 4 filter banks, so each segment really represents progress through a particular filter bank (this was intentional). That's also why at the end of each "segment" you see a lot of disk activity: it has finished a filter bank and is checkpointing. However, this is only true for the moment. We may be adding or removing filter banks in the future as results come in and the researchers tweak or come up with new mathematical filters. If the number of filter banks change, the segments will no longer represent an entire filter bank. But for now, each "segment" corresonds to a filter bank.
