HPF2 temporarily on hold

We are pausing the HPF2 project temporarily. We have been debugging the Rosetta code to find an elusive bug which causes a small percentage of the work units to make the Rosetta program quit early. The rest of the results seem to be fine. However, we are concerned that the bug occasionally might be making the Rosetta program to get stuck for the entire work unit time-out period. To make sure this does not end up locking up more and more agents for two weeks at a time, we have decided to stop sending out new HPF2 work units until we find the cause of the problem. We might need to resume HPF2 work for short periods before the problem is fully fixed to help us, if for example there is more than one bug involved.

We are sorry for any inconvenience, thank you for your patience, and thank those who have posted their observations on unusual HPF2 work unit behavior. If you have not opted out of the other projects (Fight Aids and Help Defeat Cancer), you will continue to get work units for those. You can find your preferences for these here .

That's too bad. But really good that you're keeping us updated so well. Hopefully the problem is fixed soon so we can resume the project!

Take your time!

Just curious, any update on how the debug / testing is going and when work will start flowing again?

Hi dbeeler,
So far, nothing has made it to the Beta testers. That is all that I know.

Re: HPF2 temporarily on hold

The last I heard, we were doing a complete upgrade to a recent version of Rosetta (it is rapidly changing) and should be ready for testing in September.
