Storms

Yea storms can be an issue.

Luckily I am far enough North (About 400 miles north of the US border) to be missing the bout that is hitting the US right now. (Though contrary to popular belief I do not live in an igloo), but I do know what being hit by a storm is about.

It is really hard to crunch when your power is out. Guess it makes sense, I was wondering why so many peoples scores were comming in lower than their daily averages. confused

Here is hoping that your lights are back on, your driveway is plowed, and you at least got a day off work due to the storm. smile

Re: Storms

I'm down here in Hurricane Alley, so we don't do snow cool Crawler at the bottom of my screen says we have a freeze watch for the next 4 days or so as it'll be below freezing [20sF]. You lot may sneer, but it's murder on the hibiscus and red bud that got fooled by the unseasonable highs. crying

Wind is blowing a hoolie, but at least we didn't do tornados this time. praying

Storms

Hurricane Alley, I bet that isn't the name they put on the tourism brochures. smile

Not much wind up here, we are too sheltered from the mountains, although we are getting another 4" of snow today (hardly worth mentioning). I have to say snow is over-rated you are not missing anything.

Still I will take the snow anyday over hurricanes and tornados that will blow your house off to Oz.

Well may the wind stay away from you, and watch for ice on the roads, our thoughts are with you as you weather out the storms. praying

Just think of my poor electric bill - having to run the heater and the pool pump at once is murder on the budget crying

Well, all you have to do is get liquid cooling for your computers, then run it out to heat your pool, pump and heating in one. laughing

Of course you would need a few extra workstations should keep your pool warm even in those cool tempatures. But just think of the crunching you could do! Well, the budget would still be shot, probally even worst, but you can't have it all. sad

I have a hard time feeling sorry for someone who still has water in their pool, everthing here has about 4 feet of ice on it.

You must live near the coast to still have fauna (like hibiscus and red bud) & pools (with water not ice).

All the best, keep crunching, I am going to curl up with a hot apple cider and dream of palm trees. coffee

Re: Storms

I don't heat the pool. I'm worried about heating ME! shock

Not only am I within half an hour's drive of the coast, but have a house on a causeway between a pond and a lake. So I get to take advantage of lots of passive solar heating - especially in the summer time laughing

Unfortunately the same el nino effect that kept all the hurricanes away this year have moved the sub tropical jet stream in a BAD direction for our winter weather. All the warm water from the Gulf Stream is being sucked across the NE to provide a lot of lovely snow and ice and we're left shivering under some Canadian exports that don't normally blow down our way tired

Europe gets all our lovely global warming and we get cold air. frustrated
