Recent results not showing

I have two devices (both running HPF2) that are returning results which do not show up in the device stats. I watched device DCH-grid23 (device ID 352504) send results and get a new work unit yesterday afternoon/evening (can't remember the precise time). That PC ran through the night until 07:30 GMT, during which period it must have returned at least one more result because I've just booted it up and it's one and a half hours into a new work unit. I'm writing this at about 15:30 GMT.

That places the end of the previous work unit at about 06:00 GMT today. According to the stats the last result was returned on 02 July. Similarly, my device named DCH-grid26 (device ID 352689) is shown as returning its last result on 03 July, although I can see it received a new work unit during last night and it was running happily yesterday evening.

I see there was a thread opened along these lines in late June but it didn't seem to reach any definite conclusion.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to what might be going on? I haven't changed anything; they are stand-alone UD agents and I don't run UD Monitor.

Thanks,
David.

Members cannot see eachothers device details, but you returned

Last Result Returned (UTC)
07/13/2006 07:39:47 [8+ hour(s) ago]

With 41 devices to your name and 15 days Crunch time per day, 8 hours is a large interval....lest each takes 10 days to do a unit.

Re: Recent results not showing

I'm not sure I appreciate the point you are making.

You have to disregard the figure of 41 agents because of the (to me) ludicrous inability to delete defunct ones. Following the conclusion of the HPF1 project I have had to re-allocate a number of my slow computers elsewhere. I actually now have 18 machines working for WCG, all crunching the HPF2 project.

Three of my machines run 24/7. All the others run 7/7, so some of the slower machines can easily take a day or two to complete a work unit.

The position is further complicated by the fact that one of my 24/7 machines has been stuck at 0% for 34 hours, which is the subject of another post. I intend to kill that task shortly.

Nevertheless, I really do have two (and only two) agents that have returned results that are not showing.

David.

marysduby,
By now the only projects you should be running on the UD client are FAAH and HDC. HPF2 has been withdrawn for debugging. If you still have HPF2 units running -- why haven't you terminated them?

Hi marysduby,
Not your fault. It's because the bug in HPF2 was slowly tying up machines that we halted it.

Marysduby, he/she calling names, go to post 2 again and read.

Still leaves the question of DavidHobbs, did he have results returned which were not showing or were they of the 10 days bug type?Even if you cancel proper in UD, credit is still given for the wallclock-hours crunched.

Re: Recent results not showing

Hi Sekerob,

I can't really throw any further light on the strange omission of results from my two clients. After my last post I left both machines running and kept a close eye on them. Since then they have been behaving impeccably. I really can't explain it.

I'm prepared to put it down as an isolated incident or even observer error, although I'm sure I saw what I saw...

However, at present they are crunching FAAH until HPF2 comes back on stream. Thanks for your concern.

David.
