i couldn't find any info on this.

Re: Error 1920

Sophie, you may have installed it under administrator or a user with admin rights, but are trying to start it under user without or the inverse, you installed a service without admin rights, then when its tried to fire up, it cant....some thread on this forum address this issue of priviledges....look for the french spelled privileges ;>)

I googled elsewhere and found this: Error 1920... help?

and this: Rosetta

If you dont succeed, let us know

ciao

Re: Error 1920

Sekerob,

thanks! you are obviously a more sucessful Googler than i am; i only came up with 2 hits, both too cryptic for a no-nerd like me!

anyway, after another error messge, i thought to check the system requirements. Hank the puter here is pretty old, and he just didn't make it. he was running WCG, so i didn't think to check before.

time for a new puter. til then, i'll put Hank back on WCG.

thanks for your help, Sekerob! much appreciated!

GO, PCQ&A TEAM! cool cool cool

Sophie

Re: Error 1920

Sophie, you don't have to install BOINC as a service. It will run quite happily as a normal program. Just chose that option during the install, and it won't ask you confusing questions about services, permissions and accounts.

I'm such a geek I recognised the error code without even having to look it up.

Re: Error 1920

Didactylos, can you also explain to Sophie how it can be made to start when not logging on first.......its those spontaneous combustions of Windows.....mine is set to log on and off immediately upon boot...no and there's no way to stop that...trust me!.

rose Re: Error 1920

well, i dl'd the older version, thinking it might like my machine better. i also set it up for the single use option.

so far it seems to be taking, tho i am having other problems. i will either hunt for an answer here, or , if that fails, start another thread.

thanks again you guys!
