Re: A few unusual HPF2 work units

Same problem here...

0% at 100%CPU throttle after 24 hours...
I'm using the Windows version, and I have Athlon 2600 512 RAM and 1 GB swap space...

I live in Brazil, so it is GMT - 3h

Which other technical info? And how do I get it?? Thanks

confused Re: A few unusual HPF2 work units

I am now at 60 hrs 13 min on this "HPF2" work unit and showing a 14% completion.

Is there something I should know?

Thanks,

Re: A few unusual HPF2 work units

Hello ront43,
If you are running the UD client, are the graphs moving in the Application View? If not, report your Device ID number and the time you downloaded it (Device Statistics - the time you uploaded the result for the previous work unit) so that the staff can pick out your work unit. Then terminate it.

If you are running BOINC, you can report the name of the work unit and copy the info at the start of your Messages Tab to get the Device ID and description. Then Abort it. I feel sure that 24 hours without progress means that it has gone into an endless loop.

Re: A few unusual HPF2 work units

BOINC User ID 225561, Host ID 41341.

Error #9: za097_ 01248, returned 07/11/2006 06:55:34, 2 other copies also errors, 3 other copies in progress, aborted after 1.17 hours of normal checkpoints with "The environment is incorrect. (0xa) - exit code 10 (0xa)." Exception code: 0xc0000005, Exception address: 0x00488EB6.

Like the last Error I got, this was an old unit which had just been reissued from scratch.

Re: A few unusual HPF2 work units

Hello!

Iam not sure if I also have got one of these WUs.

UD Agent
on P T1300 solo 1.66 GHz, 2GB RAM, 3GB Pagefile, CPU throttle at 100%
Device ID: 392915
WU downloaded at 07/09/06 16:25:22 UTC
HPF2 V5.0.5.3 (shouldn't it have a later version??)

The WU was this morning working at 0% with graphs on the left side of the i screen nearly half way along the range, and min and max values displayed for each graph. No movement during several minutes watching. Runtime at this point approx. 4 hours
After a couple more minutes doing other work I checked back and this time the graphs, min and max values were cleared.
No progress since then. Runtime now 8 hours.

Is it still worth waiting, or should I abort this WU? confused

Best regards

Thorsten

Re: A few unusual HPF2 work units

That is the latest UD version of HPF2, released on 4 July. Don't let the different BOINC version numbers confuse you.

How long you wait is up to you. Generally, after 24 hours with no progress you can be pretty sure it's dead. Those that stick at 0% may need less evidence of a problem, but until we get confirmation of that, my advice will remain "wait it out 24 hours, then kill it".

If the graph isn't displaying, go ahead and kill it immediately. I think you fit this category.

BOINC User ID 225561, Host ID 41341.

Error #10: za112_ 00667, returned 07/12/2006 07:23:20, 2 other copies also errors, 3 other copies still in progress, did one normal checkpoint, then no checkpoint for ~20 minutes (longer than normal) and then crashed with exit code 10, Exception code: 0xc0000005, Exception address: 0x00A876DD.

NOTE: This one might be good for debugging, since it crashes pretty early on.

Re: A few unusual HPF2 work units

Just had an HPF2 unit complete with no result on the latest UD Agent. Device ID: 324154, time about 10 minutes ago (can't keep UTC time straight). Running time was a little less than 3 hours.

Re: My unusual HPF2 work units

I am in the same boat as Mark099 (sometimes).

Agent version: 3.0 (2844)
Device naem: QUARK3
ID: 166611
Running HPF2
v5.0.5.2

On Tuesday (July 13th) ran over 6 hours with 0% complete but charts were being updated.
On Wed (July 14th) after shutting system down for the night, now shows 0% complete. My time was reset to zero and processing is occurring per task manager but now chart data is not being updated. Looks like nothing is happening except the the molecule graphics are turning.
