Beta testing..... Just noticed an extra option on the "my grid" page - you can now opt into beta testing and get credit for your work... I've opted in... lets see what comes back. Yea ... just noticed that myself and quickly shot over to you guys to see if you too have noticed. I'm in two minds at the moment in deciding whether to participate or not. At the moment I'm enjoying this period of quick validations for returned WU's. There is also the aspect of not being able to allocate individual machines for Beta Testing if you're running BOINC as you can only set a single profile for all. BTW Spikie - It will be a few weeks yet before I overtake you mate (You no longer feature on my 'overtaking list') and even then, MPM is going to get to you first. 17123 Points is my biggest day ever I thought I was giong to be Number 1 on the graph today  Oh well  Windflowers and Marysduby stole my thunder againHi Graham, It's just a coincidence that it's also my highest points per day ever as it cleared a lot of WU results in one day. Happy crunching. |

Hello Martle,
There is also the aspect of not being able to allocate individual machines for Beta Testing if you're running BOINC as you can only set a single profile for all .There are 3 customizable profiles for BOINC: Home, Work and School. Set one of those for Beta and then only those machines you designate with that Beta profile will download Beta projects. Your Beta computers will download Beta projects (ignoring the list in My Projects) or, if none are available, regular work units for those projects selected in My Projects. Confusing, isn't it?  But it is pretty flexible. Particularly if you select a preferred project and then also select the check box 'If there is no work available for my computer for the projects I have selected above, please send me work from another project (this option only applies to BOINC agents).'Lawrence |

Does anyone here know if they've cut back on the points received for work units.
I've returned 3 results today with some still pending. The ones pending I'm used to that, but with 3 results I average anywhere from 1200-1400 points. Now today with the 3 results I returned I only received 586 points. WHAT"S UP WITH THAT?  What's even worse is it took me 17 1/2 hours to complete the 3 wu's!! NOW THAT"S DEPRESSING!!! Just seems like the points should have been higher. I could be wrong. Just curious if anyone here knows anything on this. I'm also running at 100% on the WCG Agent plus have BOINC running fulltime.  |

Hi largethunde,
It could be a result of knreed's mistake sending out 4th work units. This has depleted the supply of old Pending Validations for BOINC. Something like that creates a roller coaster ride. Anyway, BOINC points are never going to be steady the way UD points tend to be. |
