Re: PROTEOME_FOLDING_PHASE_2 stopped working, NO graphics

The throttle is a rought estimate of how much CPU to use, however, if you have it set to 80%, it shouldn't be sitting at 99% for more than a few seconds. If it's longer than that, something may be wrong.

When you snooze the agent, it's still consuming CPU? This definitely shouldn't be happening.

Are you sure it's the Rosetta process and not the UD agent process?

Could you provide your device ID so we can track down what WU this is? You can find your device ID on the 'checkbox' screen of the agent. You can either post it here or send it via email through the 'contact us' link at the bottom of any WCG page (except the forum pages).

Thanks,

I killed the rosetta-process with the taskmanager, so I'm not really sure that rosetta consumed the time, but nearly sure. The process consumed 99% of time, did not Snooze and stoped at 80%. Till the reset (killing the process) I only got Fight AIDS WU.
My divice ID is 213753, if you can find out something about the problem.

I looked up the particular work unit which you aborted. All other devices computing this work unit have completed this one with no errors. The current Rosetta program can actually consume 100% of the cpu (at lowest priority however) for several minutes at a time, regardless of the throttle setting. We are working on updating Rosetta to make it follow the throttle setting better. We are still tracking down another infrequent problem with Rosetta and will hopefully have both problems addressed in the next update coming soon. Thanks for spotting this and for your patience.

Viktors,

Probability calculations, would it make sense to continue sending extra copies out not-like in the past event, with 5.07 only until validated. This switching from 5.06 on the first 3 or 4 copies, switching to 5.07 has caused situations as seen of up to 9 copies being sent out.

ciao

I don't quite understand your question. But I am guessing you are concerned about needing to send extra copies of work units out when the code changes. This can occur when the new code has subtle compiler optimization changes which causes small differences in the resulting answers. Therefore the comparison of results between devices might not show equal answers. We usually try to coincide such a code change with the release of a new batch of work units. Prior batches would either complete as is and if they don't, those remaining few work units might be the ones causing some problem and thus need resending anyway.

To terminate the work unit, go into the Task Manager and find the 'wcg_hpf2_rosetta.exe' process. Select it and click the 'End Process' button.

There is an update and UD will download and install it automatically.

Having the same problem here. Been running for well over 2 hours and no movement on the percentage scale.

Dagorath where is the task manager located so I can shut it down?

No disrespect, but now i'm getting fearfull.....right click on your windows start bar, or left if you're a southpaw, and have configured your mouse like that.....menu pops up with taskmanager listed

Be careful not to kill anything else! You could cuase your machine to go wobbly, requiring a boot to restore stability.

just shout, moms watching whilst da(d)gorath is out biggrin

PS Viktors, your interpretation is right on the money......new version only coming out with new batch.

Hi largethunder,
You might want to look at my post to a member running the UD client: http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread?thread=7853#63094

The progress indicator is not as reliable as the graph line drawn in the Application View of the UD client.
