Got up today to send in overnight work from 2 machines. Both were running HPF2 on ud software, not BOINC. First was normal. Second returned the result but points and runtime did not change. This is just like what has been happening over at Grid and why I left there. Looking at my device list showed that all three projects were checked and this was not the way I had it set up. When HPF2 began, I had changed my profile to run it only.
I have now reset the profile to run Aids only. It has been stable from the beginning and has not wasted any of my time and electricity. If someone can fix the problem with HPF2, let me know and I'll return to that project, but I do not intend to throw away any more resources on flaky and poorly written research software. My patience with this kind of thing was more than used up at the other place. |

John, just keep taps......opposed to Grid.org, here you can have trust, it will be fixed. Also, whilst the C@#p at that organisation was on existing science and had you recrunch the same data again and again, none of that would simply not be possible here.
----------------------------------------HPF2 is groundbreaking evolution on HPF1 first pass data, so i stick with them....as per knreed, tech of WCG, enough crash data was identified to allow quick resolution.....odd as it may sound, even your WU crash helped to exact exceptions. It will be recovered and re-issued once the few startup glitches have been removed, so sit tight, do FAAH and check back soon. This baby requires Power with a capital P. ciao

John, what you report shouldn't have happened. It didn't happen to anyone else. All members are opted-in to new projects - WCG are perfectly up front about this, and all you need to do is deselect it if you don't want to participate.
WCG do not re-include you in a project that you have previously opted out of. Either you were mistaken about opting out, or something went wrong. If you want this looked into further, then try contacting WCG directly, using the contact link. New projects are always going to have teething troubles, and we appreciate your patience while these are worked out. Several fixes have been released already, and I expect all reported issues will be addressed very soon. |

TO: Sekerob; Thanks. I'll keep an eye on things. Want very much to run HPF2.
To: Didactylos; I have an idea as to what might have happened in project selection. Is it possible that, sometime yesterday, a number of HPF1 units were put back into circulation? This action and/or the fix issued for BOINC HPF2 could have triggered the automatic opt-in. I'm certain that when HPF2 began, I reset my default device profile to run it only but, when I looked at that profile this morning, all 3 boxes were checked. I've read that a fix was issued for the BOINC software. but no mention was made of ud. Hopefully, they are working on that as well. In the meantime, I'll stay and crunch. Best regards. |

The fix you read about is for UD as well as BOINC. UD will automatically download the updated software the next time it downloads an HPF2 work unit.
----------------------------------------Glad to hear you are sticking around, that's the spirit!! It's a bit like sighting in a new rifle. Until they get it tweaked properly it's not going to hit the bullseye. Unfortunately, the only way to tweak it is to fire a few rounds, look at the results and tweak from there. Very soon we'll be hitting the bullseye 99% of the time. BTW, I shoot targets, not Bambi :) [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Jun 28, 2006 10:53:49 PM] |

Actually shot a tree down with a .44 cal pistol once. It wasn't a very big tree, and it was dead, but it was fun. ![]() |

Yep, if you're out camping and need firewood and that old chainsaw just won't start then a .44 is the next best thing
Scares off the bears too!I shot my friend once years ago, we were just kids. We were hunting rabbit when we came upon a rattlesnake. My friend, Rajko, freaked out and started bouncing around. I took aim at the rattler and squeezed just as he bounced into my sights. Got him in the foot! It was just a .22 so not a big deal, he lived. The snake slithered off, probably laughing at us clowns. |

Can anyone explain why we are not being credited with the results we are reporting in HPF2? Since I started HPF2 I have completed at least 6 results per day but, as you can see in the top image, I've been credited with 3 or 4 results most days.
My results for yesterday show 4 reported but the three lower images show I completed and reported 8 results. ![]() ![]() As many of you know I'm not in this for the points but I am concerned there are inaccuracies in the result reporting. |

Many threads are around to explain this, but rest assured, the system functions as designed and you will be given credit (in points), for work validated as soon as it's confirmed.....lapse time can be up to a week and more (rarely), depending on others who also have to crunch the same WU until 'quorum of 3' is found. Use BOINCView as add-on. It keeps log of all the WU's you've send in. At the Results Status page @ WCG, behind Device Manager, you can see the status' of all your work up to 4 days after validation, with claimed points and awarded point. The awarded points times 7 gives the WCG points that show up in the graph you pasted.
