Amen to that!
---------------------------------------- I'm still somewhat anxiously awaiting the day that the norm is for WCG to be running 3-4 projects at the same time ![]() |

Excellent news
I assume this means that those who have selected in their profiles to receive only HPF units, will need to change to 'All' or FAAH only? |

Great news!!
---------------------------------------- Hopefully we will have some more projects soon. It would also be great if there would be some media exposure. ![]() |

@Adywebb. If you unticked FAAH, see other threads, your UD Agent or BOINC will be sitting in "paused" with HPF1 finished, so you'd have to select FAAH too.
----------------------------------------My understanding is, that if Cancer is added or HPF2, they will be automatically added as OPT-IN new projects and you'de have to unselect in your respective UD or BOINC profile if you dont want to participate in those. Meantime, Great that one of the projects has completed. WCG juggling 3 simultaneous is very close and intend / planning is well underway to run 4 or more side by side (according posts in other threads). That's the whole design and that's why onboarding BOINC, which has the client side management capabilities was an outstanding move on the part of WCG. PS, unless you use multiple profiles in BOINC assigning a weight to each project, i believe that pariticipation in multiple projects will result in even spread of crunch time over these projects? ciao

PS, unless you use multiple profiles in BOINC assigning a weight to each project, i believe that pariticipation in multiple projects will result in even spread of crunch time over these projects? If you are referring to the Project Weight field in your device profiles, I believe that applies to the WCG as a whole. That is used to determine how much time your machine crunches for the WCG and for other BOINC projects like BBC Climate Prediction, Einstein, Seti, etc. The proportion of WUs for WCG projects (HPF, FAAH, future ones) is determined by what the servers send you. I think you can only control if you get WUs for that WCG project, not how many. |

If you are referring to the Project Weight field in your device profiles, I believe that applies to the WCG as a whole. keithhenry, i looked it up and see about 264hours of HPF and 510 hours of FAAH over the last period on my machine. Indeed it indicates running on a single flat profile, one is dependent on what the Servers send and is available. I personally have no need for the weighting of FAAH/HPF, happy with whatever comes thru, but vaguely remember reading, that by setting up multiple BOINC profiles @ WCG (e.g. the pre offered home, school, work), one can set the weight for each, let's call it sub-project, at WCG. Given that one can create/register multiple devices for the same computer, similar to UD_Mon, where each slot used a different device on the same PC, i would be surprised if it would not be possible....combo the devices with profiles..... Inside these home/work/school profiles one can also set the time from/to e.g. 6:01 to 18:00 FAAH Work, 18:01 to 06:00 HPF Home, an alternate way of setting the weight.....bearing the risk like presently to put the machine in idle for 12 hours. .....till then, i'll leave it to abundently creative people to work out, if not already done and if they so desire ![]() [edit - I edited this to properly create the opening quote tag that was throwing off the formatting of this thread - knreed]

I came onboard fairly recently but I feel a wonderful sense of accomplishment with the completion of HPF1. I imagine those of you who came in at the beginning must feel 10 times what I feel.
Be proud, ladies and gentlemen for you have done a marvelous work and a wonder!! My hat is off to all of you veterans here at WCG. I salute you and look forward to crunching alongside you as we head in to HPF2. |
