Work while you sleep
|
I used to run Seti@home. I had it set up using ramdisk98me and setigate so that it ran on a ramdisk and stored units until I manually connected it to send and receive units. This let my machine run with it's hard disk spun down!!!! Set up like that, I ran it 24-7 and didn't put any wear on my hard disk.
It seems to me that building that kind of ability into this software would encourage users to let their machines run long hours. Why not? The hard disk is sleeping. It's just a software thing, no big deal to do for a competent programming team. What do you say?
