Hello depriens,
I have not had any errors while running the benchmark (yet). I do not keep the routine in memory while suspended. How is your profile set? Lawrence |

This starts to call more loudly for a RAM and FP test....
----------------------------------------Best to see if your prefs are properly loaded in BOINC is, to suspend a WU in progress and see with taskmaster, if it remains in memory. I've had these issues until i ended the memory retention (5.4.9) I think the science backend has not changed at all, just the GUI part.

When suspending BOINC, the workunit disappears from the taskmanager, so that should be okay I guess.
----------------------------------------I've done some benchmarking (Everest / SiSoft Sandra) lately. Should I run a memory test program like Memtest? BTW: What do you mean with FP test? Floating Point? ![]() |

I've been using SiSoftware Sandra to test/benchmark.....4 year old shuttle equals a P4 XE dual core in the stress test......this pack includes a 'daring' Burn-In Wizard...know what you do!
----------------------------------------Here's a post from Lawrence H with some test links: Hello Kaoh, The Hot Cpu Tester at http://7byte.com/index.php?page=download has a memory diagnostic test. In general, we recommend: 2) CPU Tester: http://7byte.com/index.php?page=download General diagnostic program 3) Memory Tester: http://www.memtest86.com/ Memory diagnostic program These are listed in the 'Useful Utilities' thread at http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread?thread=2490 Lawrence

2 of the 3 WUs that gave depreins trouble were both ex series, 1 was an ew. I just had 2 ex WUs that caused a lot of grief here and in my Results Status I see indications that some (a few, not all) ex WUs are bombing on several machines before arriving here.
----------------------------------------The 2 WUs that caused problems here both landed on the same box, 1 after the other. I was driven to running memory and CPU tests but the tests indicated all is well. Now that box is on an faah WU and crunching along fine like it always did before those 2 nasty ex WUs came along. Maybe the problem is with the ex and ew series WUs and not depreins' machines? [Edit 2 times, last edit by Former Member at Jun 15, 2006 4:59:56 AM] |

Had also one 'EX' that bombed elsewhere previously, but went thru fine here(bottom). In fact had 10 EXxxx, all went thru fine on my box. Since i see 2 extra copies being send on this one with only 48 hours return requirement, there must be more than meets the eye on these resistant remainders....been sitting in pending for 4 days now. Knreed may know more.....this batch showed up after the 'Hxxxxx' mass crash event about 2 weeks ago.

I also had several ex WUs go through here with no problems. I'm also noticing the 48 hour deadline on 3 ex WUs that arrived here after the 2 nastys I mentioned earlier. Those 3 bombed on other hosts. 1 of those went through OK, 2 are being crunched with no problems so far.

Viktors says that we are working on the last few batches for HPF1. These batches include a number of pseudo-genes that may not be expressed. Meaning that they might be non-functional genes that no longer produce proteins. Just let Rosetta try to crunch them. Maybe it will converge to something, maybe it will not. We are not certain that they are being used by the cell. But this is standard out on the borders of science. Everything becomes a bit uncertain around the edges. The problems with the 2 batches that were pulled have been fixed and they have been sent out again.

Just let Rosetta try to crunch them. Lawrence Tell Viktors to send us whatever he's got, the tougher the better, that's the way we like it. |
