Hi Jessica - we used to learn times tables by chanting them out - two twos are 4, three twos are 6, four twos are 8 etc etc - seemed to do the trick for us.
I hope your not going to use text speak during your english tests   Ady  |

I'm 21, a software engineer, and I never did learn my times tables properly!
 I haven't missed them at all to be honest. I find my powers of two far more useful. I tend to work out multiplications in my head from a "waypoint" that I remember (5*6=30 for instance), and then add from there (7*6 = 30 + 6 + 6 = 42). Bad, but ultimately no problem for me.  If I were to set about learning them now, I'd find some visual method, because the chanting never worked for me. I remember things in visual patterns. I discovered this one day in my teens when I taught myself to type pi to 50 decimal places on the computer numpad. (I guess I must have been a little bored.) To my continuing surprise, I can still remember it! I couldn't tell you what the numbers are, just the pattern it makes on the numpad. |

And then of course you could try writing something like this, but for times tables...

Thanks guys for telling me ways to learn my times tables, but what is with the poem??? I think I will have to ask one of my friends about it! hehe and do not worry as I will not use text talk for my exams....I can talk proper when I want too.Thanks agen! So how has every one been? it is quite nice today in england (well parts of it) the sun is out but it is still quite windy x x x it must be global warming huh dad? Jess what are 6 7's ? and 6 8's?
----------------------------------------2's done deal. 4's like 2's just miss every alternate one. 8's the same 5's walk in the park, 10's even easier you know the trick with 9's that just leaves 3's 6's and 7's to worry about and you get the 2*7 4*7 5*7 10*7 8*7 and 9*7 already before you know it you are home and dry 7*9 Jess? |
