Re: download error / checksum failed with lin_path.txt

I experienced this problem with Puppy Linux 1.08, resetting, detaching/reattaching made no difference.

In the end I permanently detached that host from this project.

Re: download error / checksum failed with lin_path.txt

It's a binary log. I can't even read it, let alone understand it. Can it be exported as text?

It's an ethereal log.
I've exported the log in xls format, but it's harder to read it : http://jejebr.chez-alice.fr/divers/checksumtxt.xls

Thanks, I think I will let Rosetta off too.

Re: download error / checksum failed with lin_path.txt

I don't see any problems in the log. Looks like the issue is elsewhere.

Re: download error / checksum failed with lin_path.txt

Checksum problems are much more visible using the ethereal log, warnings are displayed in yellow, errors in red.
Here is one of the errors I can see with ethereal :

Re: download error / checksum failed with lin_path.txt

If you look, you should see the packet being resent. That's how the transport layer works.

Re: download error / checksum failed with lin_path.txt

Someone reported on the net that there are two ways/methods/programs or whatevers ( I do not recall exactly) for computeing checksums and each returns different results. They recommended that if the source was reliable to accept the download. The comment was about downloading a binary OS edition file.
If BOINC or UD uses method one and your system is calling method two than you'll see a check sum error.
For What It's Worth, knowledge.
Hope this helps

Re: download error / checksum failed with lin_path.txt

There are many ways to compute checksums! The standard way is to compute a hash. There are a number of hash algorithms. You can rest assured that the BOINC client software and the BOINC server software uses exactly the same hashing algorithm. Off the top of my head, I think they use MD5 (the most common hash algorithm for this sort of thing).

This is a BOINC feature, not an operating system feature.
