Asus A6Va problems

Hi, I have an Asus A6Va laptop that I can't run any tasks on. The Windows WCG clients downloads a tasks, then goes into pause mode. Minutes after it downloads again and so on.... Systen is WinXP with all updates.

I have other clients running with no problems on my HP laptop and 3 stationary computers, so I don't think that I've made a mistake during install.

Any ideas what could be wrong?

Re: Asus A6Va problems

Hi sniller,
ASUS A6VA = Intel Pentium M processor 750 1.86GHz so you do not have a problem with DEP. My suggestion is that you look at your security software, especially your anti-virus and firewall. What are they?

Re: Asus A6Va problems

I have Norton Internet Security - it was preinstalled on the laptop. Is it likely that this is the reason why WCG won't run? It is true that I don't have Norton running on other computers where WCG runs fine.

I will try to uninstall Norton/Symantic (not so easy, though, because the uninstaller crashes when I attempt it).

Thanks for your help, Lawrence.

Sven.

Re: Asus A6Va problems

Hello sniller,
Please do not uninstall your security software. Instead, read the logs to see if it is disallowing something for the WCG. Even easier, try installing BOINC and see if that works.

Re: Asus A6Va problems

Hi again.

BOINC works, so the problem is circumvented. Thanks.
